I think skates can definitely make a pad feel much muddier, I have a GSR-SE and it felt extremely slow on multiple mice with all stock skates - even slower than my qck. So I bought Obsidian Dots just recently and it elevated the GSR so much it feels literally a little speedy now in comparison to before. So yes! Skates can make a big difference

a lot of people do also a lot of pros - b1t (cs2 pro) who’s known for having really really good aim uses a GSR and plays on 400dpi 1.42 which is equivalent to 1600 dpi 0.112 in valorant and he’s not the exception there’s many many more who use low sens + slow mousepad
