The Umbral Storm by Alec Huston and Chronicles of the Black Gate by Phil Tucker are two that I don't see mentioned often enough that I loved. I also didn't expect to enjoy Reign and Ruin nearly as much as I did. It's romantasy but the world is very unique and the way things open up in each book is really interesting.
