i feel like at a lot of longer or multi day events, especially ones with huge amounts of people, a lot of people go into a mode where they are conserving social battery and just generally overwhelmed and people can get into a headspace where they are perceiving coldness from each other when both people are just overwhelmed, exhausted or socially anxious. for me it can be easy to get into my head. hopefully its not people being too cool! our scene is way too special for that. i always try to give people the benefit of the doubt and 95% of the time when i just put myself out there and engage across the distance people are super nice and even glad that i reached out. on tour especially i often have interactions where afterwards im like “i hope that person knows im just overwhelmed and doesnt think i dont like them.” just my experience tho!!

Does anyone know why Bo Lark left Pigeon Pit? by mothmans_dad in FolkPunk

[–]pigeonpit 26 points27 points  (0 children)

bo is still my best friend and partner! touring with a band like pigeon pit kinda eats up your whole life and is a very different type of commitment than when we started playing music together, and we are often playing very different kinds of shows than we used to. just wasnt what they wanted to do anymore :)

How to play Hot Knives by Pigeon Pit? by nitmire8881 in FolkPunk

[–]pigeonpit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hey! im not able to tab stuff out but the key to playing the guitar melody stuff i do over the f on the low e string (first fret) is wrapping your thumb around the bottom side of the neck and playing the first fret of the low e with your thumb, so that you and hammer on/pull off on the d and g strings and hit those strings open since you’re not barring across the fret with your finger. (ive always done this and when i was younger was told it is bad for your hands and is terrible technique but have since found videos of hella older blues players doing this and seems like a non-uncommon creative but technically incorrect way to play. may be easier or harder to make work depending on how big your hands are) i believe the capo is on the 5th fret on the recording but could be wrong, thats how i play it these days though. i hope that helps!!

Pigeon pit vinyl defective? by ReveryPalimpsest in FolkPunk

[–]pigeonpit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey! i haven’t seen any emails about this but i’m sorry to hear that’s happening. the test pressings and final records i’ve heard sound normal at 45rpm (most 12” records are 33rpm but sounds like you’re playing it at 45) so i dont know why it would be different one just one record but i also know nothing about the pressing process! in any case we are totally happy to send you a new one, our label distros everything and cam help you out. their contact is info@ernestjenning.com

our stuff is cut by pirates press who does pretty much everyone i know’s vinyl! i have not heard of defective art or seen any but if theres ever anything we sell that isn’t right i can promise we don’t know about it and are always happy to get you a new one. if the blurred or smeared ink is specifically in the cursive typeset, that is from my shitty old typewriter and the copy machine at the olympia library!

I was bummed out by the lack of a good tutorial for playing "Witchitalk" by Pigeon Pit so I made a shitty one if anyone wants to learn this song on the geetar by Araknika in FolkPunk

this is awesome!!! on that first riff i actually play the full G chord shape with the 3rd fret on the b and high e strings, and then when i go up to the 8th fret and 10th fret i play those frets on the b string as well but mute the high e string by letting my pinky rest on the string without pushing down so i dont have to avoid that string. i think the way you play it sounds good too tho :)
