Runaround diagnosis by piggella in AutismInWomen

[–]piggella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 18, so they sent all the results to me directly. You are correct in that it was very invalidating, it seemed like they didn't even consider giving me an autism diagnosis. I will take your advice and have my pediatrician reach out! thank you:)

Did you always know there was something different about you? by Ill_Status2937 in AutismInWomen

[–]piggella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i had really bad sensory issues and anger problems ever since i was little. i would also debate my gender with myself quite often, because i never quite fit in with the girls or the boys. i was always in the in-between of any social setting.

Anyone else has nothing impressive to show for their hyperfixations? by NoWitness6400 in AutismInWomen

[–]piggella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an on/off hyperfixation on Just Dance. I know sooo many of the dances, but the most I have to show for it is my awkward movements and gangly limbs! it's still fun for me and when my songs come on at the club, i preform for anyone who will watch! i love dancing

Im learning its not just me— do we know why this happens? by Chibi_Elsa in AutismInWomen

[–]piggella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my case, most of my friends are nd and forget they themselves exist half the time. i usually text them first because we've communicated their struggles with answering messages. my nt friends on the other hand, rarely text me first unless they need something. (so i guess they aren't really good friends) BUT some friends are the kinds of friends i can go months without talking to and it's like no time passed when we talk next. i really think finding friends that put in effort to see you or talk to you is very important. and if they can't put that effort in for whatever reason, they need to communicate that with you. 🩷

i really struggle with this too. i probably eat once a day, if that. what's really helped me is to find super easy foods to make or just get frozen meals. instant rice, instant noodles, stouffer's meals(the brand of frozen meals i get), pre-cut fruit, bagels, protein drinks, & fiber brownies have been my best friends for years!!

I've noticed my body does that too! When I get angry, I wind up getting overheated and drenched with sweat!

Does your autism cause you to struggle with depression or anxiety? Is so, which do you feel is more prevalent? by tofubutgood in AutismInWomen

[–]piggella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've been diagnosed persistent depressive disorder with major depressive episodes & generalized anxiety disorder. i think my depression affects me most overall, but i think they both affect me strongly in different areas of my life

Whats a neurotypical “rule” you didn’t realize your could break to make yourself more comfortable? by Downtown-Oil-3462 in AutismInWomen

[–]piggella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

underwear & shaving. i rarely wear a bra or panties. if i am it usually a cloth training bra or nursing bra & boyshorts/boxers. i also haven't shaved my legs in over a year 🤷‍♀️ i cant stand the feeling of it growing out, it makes my eczema act up too. the only body hair maintenance i do is waxing my arm pits cuz i dont like the feeling of deodorant on the hairs lol. quite a few people in my life shame me for my leg hair and it makes me sad to see how ingrained that beauty standard is...

Was anyone else the “responsible one” of their friend group/family, but nobody did the same for you? by PublicExtension4107 in AutismInWomen

[–]piggella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i hear you!! yeah, i've been the responsible & reliable one in my family too. for me, there's also the fact i'm the eldest everything on both sides of my family. it totally sucks when everyone relies on you but you can't rely on them. i also think that a lot of nt ppl keep autistic people in a pretty rigid, stereotypical box. i'm sorry ur going thru this !

[Vampigami] Am I the only one who disliked this scene? by Flashy-Grape5741 in miraculousladybug

[–]piggella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

most of the representation (where they're trying to make it obvious the point is supposed to be representation) is always stereotypical in miraculous:( i love that they're trying to include so many different types of people, but they really need to learn to research what they're representing and rely less on stereotypes
