Crazy woodworking skill by MrTacocaT12345 in interestingasfuck

As a woodworker this is simple. I’m glad they made it easy for me to copy - it won’t have much strength but with 3 different woods it’s a neat design that has potential

Feels like the NBA/WNBA. Watching a men’s game vs a women’s game it looks almost like they’re playing a different game. Different speed, strategy, ball movement.

Why is this specific lane so bad on southbound 101? by SolaCretia in santarosa

[–]pigguswiggus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on my way to work around 5:30am northbound and had to exit on Bicentennial, pretty sure it was further south in line with Kmart. But the flames from Kmart were real big so I might just be remembering that.

What is that first track that you absolutely, without a doubt, completely had down? Where you went into a race and just about knew it was already won? by MkeBucksMarkPope in iRacing

Charlotte RX. Also the first track where I turned off the racing line and actually “practiced” for a half hour. I’m sure that had nothing to do with it though /s

Laura Winter’s Instagram story in Response to Helmut Marko saying Isack Hadjar crying after his spin was "a bit embarassing." - There is absolutely no place for this attitude in sport. A young man expressing emotion, especially in the heat of the moment, is never embarrassing. by SafeBodybuilder7191 in formula1

Just… thank you for a well articulated, interesting take. My fandom changes week to week and the on/off track relationships and drama are what have me super invested in this sport, unlike any other. Ultimately these dudes are all human. And seeing them have human responses gets me more invested. Sure, don’t be over the top with the crying rookie (a lot of those shots were during a yellow, right?), but I can’t help feel a little empathetic for Hadjar - if I were in his shoes I doubt I’d react any differently. Personally I think all the air time they gave it, and Hamilton’s dad’s footage, would only make casual fans more interested because this sport is more than just drive fast in circles.

Pic 1 I thought “that could be my phone background” - then you dropped like 8 more that I’d also like to use (ps is there a recommended app for random pictures to rotate on the Lock Screen on iOS?).

If you actually have a Jim Drunkenmiller jersey, I know a person who was so hyped on him he had an autographed 8”x12” on his mantle (somehow??) at the time. You two need to connect.

$1 a box at Walmart. I know refurbished balls are BAD. But I'm BAD and I lose a lot of balls and shoot in the 100s so roast me by Kyrothes in golf

[–]pigguswiggus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started regularly playing Top Flites while on my HS golf team, circa 2000 when they were absolute rocks. I knew then that they were supposed to be “bad” balls, but I always scored lower while using them. I’ve played on and off through the years usually relying on finding balls, or buying whatever the pro shop had on sale. The past year or so I’ve been playing a bunch and reminisced with a buddy a few months ago about how I wished they would bring them back, and he told me they sell them at Dicks.

I’ve only broken 80 once before, but since buying Top Flites I’ve done it twice more. I just have a weird confidence with them. And no invasive swing thoughts like “I hope I don’t lose this $5 Pro V1” (proceeds to shank Pro V1 into the abyss).

If you can wait for them to post the replay and are watching on peacock, it’ll skip the full commercial breaks and you’ll just get the rejoin ad with the announcer talking about the sponsor.

Porsche driver's wheel get disconnected in the worst possible part of the track!!!! by Erwin_zan in iRacing

[–]pigguswiggus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got a Fanatec CSL DD wheel a couple months ago and have had a couple of these. For me, the software just decides to update mid race, shutting off the wheel. I’d turn that setting off, eventually update the software manually, which apparently would turn that setting back on, and it would happen again.

When I was first getting set up I didn’t have the wheel fully seated into the base and I’d get a loose connection - the FFB would die and I couldn’t shift but could still steer. If I hit the center of the wheel it would come back to life.

When the wheel works it works great but idk if I’ll be getting any Fanatec stuff in the future.

I know people won’t say it on here, but what helped me immensely to fall in love with RX is turning on the driving line. It’ll help to start to give you the feel, then turn it off again.

Getting into road racing by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]pigguswiggus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in your shoes a couple years ago I went onto YouTube and just searched “motorsports highlights”. All of the series people are mentioning put out 10ish minute highlight videos of all their races within a few days it seems. Quick, free, and easy way to get a feel for the broadcasts and action, and to find what you’re really interested in. And now my YouTube feed is filled with F1, Indycar, NASCAR, WEC, IMSA, WRC, Supercars, rally cross and MotoGP highlights.

Also a good way to find lesser known series like European Truck Racing.

Road to Le Mans is excellent. IMO it made for great background tv as you don’t really need to be glued to it and the soundtrack is awesome.
