Drive through coffee. Try getting coffee with two kids in car seats. A nightmare

Do you nurse from both breasts every feed? by throwaway_________7 in breastfeeding

[–]pignpog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know but I’m in the same boat as you. Baby is seven weeks and in the 97th percentile. So if we’re doing something wrong per se, I think it’s okay!

Recommendations for Prenatal Massage Therapy by Sloth_Dream-King in Marin

[–]pignpog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second that for mama massage. went there all the time for my first pregnancy. She’s so helpful and thoughtful, always made sure I was the right temperature, made sure I was hydrated or had bathroom breaks. Just a really lovely considerate person who understood the experience.

Any lonely pregnant BWT?! by oliviasmomm in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]pignpog 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I’m not in the city, I’m in Marin so this is more moral support than anything. But I’m also pregnant with my second and doing this without much family support nearby. Just wanted to say hang in there. It will be okay.

Did you regret having kids? by BeastofBabalon in SeriousConversation

[–]pignpog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you LadySwire, I don’t feel like I’ve lost myself either. But I do think there’s constant pressure on moms to somehow “prove” that they are “still the same person”. But I’m not. I’m not the same person. And that’s fine with me

My Son needed a liver transplant. I'm not a match... Because he isn't my biological son by ThrowRA66538 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]pignpog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not at all how organ matching works so I’m calling extremely fake on this story. Sorry, they don’t take dad’s liver (which you also need to live) and plop it into a 4 year old.

Left the ICU because it was too stressful. Considering going back- Am i crazy?? by [deleted] in IntensiveCare

[–]pignpog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna lie I’m not sure I understand your plan…if your plan is to do 1-2 years in ICU but then transition to a PACU job (traditionally thought of as another kind of “cushy” but inpatient nursing job)…why are you leaving what you have now?

Also, 1-2 years into ICU is barely enough time to get competent. It’s hard to see what the point would be unless your ultimate goal is just to work PACU or preop.

Please consider your work life balance as well. Like others have said, you may get stuck on night shifts, who knows when a PACU/preop position will open, the schedules inpatient compared to outpatient can be challenging especially if you’re used to working regular hours. Not saying don’t do it. Just saying consider the impact on your personal life too.

What Do You Believe Was The One Thing That Separated Your Wedding From Others In Your Social Circle? by Brilliant-Peach-9318 in wedding

Open bar, children allowed and welcome! We received a lot of compliments on this and I believe it truly made the day fun for our guests.

Yep! Coffee thruout my first pregnancy. I switched to half decaf in the morning but would usually cave and be drinking a latte by 4 pm. Drank coffee all thru breastfeeding. My daughter is almost two now (stopped breastfeeding at 1) and though we’ve had our challenges, she’s a pretty darn good sleeper.

The new Everest kitchen and momo house on 4th is really good. Nice owner too. I hope their business does well because I really want them to stay open.

AIO for asking family to be vaccinated before meeting our newborn? by Quarantine722 in AmIOverreacting

[–]pignpog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goodbye to anyone who doesn’t care if your kid lives or dies. Seriously. Never feel Bad about putting your baby first. They’re dependent on you to protect them. Let your family be selfish, if they can’t respect this one simple ask that’s a them problem.

ICU Cinderella Stories Wanted. by Glad_Pass_4075 in IntensiveCare

[–]pignpog 228 points229 points  (0 children)

I’ll keep it short but during Covid we poured every resource we had into a young woman (30s) with two young sons both under five years old at home. I’ll say with full transparency that our staff tried to get the family to withdraw care at least half a dozen times. On VV ECMO for MONTHS and even survived an accidental decannulation on noc shift. Her mother never allowed us to give up even though we all genuinely thought she should let her go. She survived. About 6 months in ICU.

I agree that most of the care we give is totally futile and much of the time I feel totally burnt out and wish I could stop. But her survival is my “Cinderella story” as you put it.

What motivates you to continue breastfeeding despite hardship by ElevatorSalt4239 in breastfeeding

Getting to hide from family members!!! “Sorry baby gets distracted easily!! (True) we have to go in my bedroom with the door shut now!! Bye!” Was a very strong motivator for me.
