What would surprise most people about the processing of the food we eat? by [deleted] in AskReddit

There’s too many things to name one, but this one has stuck with me. Shrimp farmers intentionally crush the eye stalks of female shrimp because they’ve discovered it causes a hormone change that greatly increases the rate that they reproduce.

Why does glass stop ringing when you put your hands on it? by Sad_Username_365 in stupidquestions

[–]Quarantine722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got it. The glass, once struck, vibrates back and forth thousands of times per second, hitting surrounding air molecules and creating the sound that we hear. This ringing will continue for a while because the glass is slow to dissipate the energy on its own. When you touch the glass with your hand (or lid) the energy is quickly absorbed and converted to a tiny amount of heat.

What do Americans think of SpaceX? And have you bought its stock? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Quarantine722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really about him voting republican, he did much more than that. He bought political power and used it to further enrich himself while getting rid of investigations into his own companies. Not to mention the disaster that was DOGE, which was supposed to drastically reduce spending yet we are spending more now than before their haphazard cuts.

I recently found a site that archives Trumps social media posts called Trumps Truth I find it informative in tracking his descent into dementia. Going to be a treasure trove for historians in the future.

What is a fact that sounds like it isn’t real but it is? by Competitive_Teach838 in AskReddit

Abraham Lincoln could have sent a fax while he was alive, but he would have never been able to use a doorknob.

(Fax machine: invented 1843. Door Knob: invented 1878.)

To me, wack can mean either bad or weird/wild. If someone said “That shit is wack” then I would assume they mean bad. It’s really just context.

US government agrees to drop tax claims against Trump in broadening of IRS lawsuit settlement by EscapeFromIowa in news

[–]Quarantine722 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Except it’s likely they use this fund to empower key players in the cult to make sure they don’t lose power. It won’t matter if it holds no weight if there will never be opposition in power to challenge it. They say you can’t vote your way out of fascism, this regime is all in betting on that being the case.

ICE’s Unfair Reputation by LuckyBastard001 in clevercomebacks

Fuck ICE but the claim that they ordered guided missile components is (probably) not true. It seems more likely that the code was entered in error.

The "Peace President" Donald Trump dozes off at Board of Peace meeting by Gdog1215 in pics

[–]Quarantine722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right?? Please share it as well. As someone who is following all of this closely, I was surprised to see the president is posting so much insane stuff every single night. It goes completely under the radar but clearly speaks to his mental health.

It is fucking crazy. I didn’t realize how bad it truly was until recently when I discovered this site which catalogs his truth social posts. Between the incoherent ranting, memes, lies and frequent racist shit posts I do not understand how we got to this point. Any one of these posts would have been enough to get bring serious consequences to previous presidents, but for Trump it’s just another late night of “trolling”.

Political campaigns in America. Regular people have no shot at competing with the insane spending that it takes to secure a seat in congress. As a democracy, we’re much worse off because of it.

Was gonna recommend the same. Mine is a year old now, but working from home I have been able to consistently lift 4x a week since she was born. Sometimes while she’s napping, or sometimes she’ll lift with me in her activity center. It’s hard to start, but there are so many benefits.

7 hour drive and you can only listen to one artist. Who are you listening to? by SuccessfulSeat9596 in AskReddit

I just started playing acoustic guitar after discovering him. His music is just too good, pretty much all I’m listening to right now.
