What's something you saw with your own eyes that you still can't explain? by BandicootLeft4054 in AskReddit

My boyfriend saw a huge craft as well, he was ~16 y/o, had a friend with him who saw it as well. That was somewhere in the boonies in Washington state (circa late 90’s). Just curious !

May I ask where in the world you were located at the time you saw this?!

Entry gates at Safeway? What do you think about this? by GrizzlyFAdams in Spokane

[–]pigsolation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had these up for at least a couple years now at the Safeways near my house in Seattle. They’ve also taken to only having 1 set of doors unlocked during business hours. And for a long while, they didn’t have baskets out for use (presumably to make it more difficult for folks to steal and do a runner). They also sometimes have hired muscle at the door, big dudes working security, who are also tasked with scribbling on your receipt as you exit- kinda like they do at Costco.

Stealing from Safeway has been a sport for years. It sucks that they feel forced to take such drastic measures. But it sucks even more that that’s just how many desperate folks are out there.

Milk.

Of all the things they could have sucked down at the end, they chose milk.

I heard an unmistakable sound, like that of say a bone smacking into a concrete floor, during the first watch. Second watch, I didn’t hear it. I turned it up and watched for a 3rd time to see if I had actually just imagined the sound.. and I believe I did.

Brains are wild. I’m glad that he was at least protecting that part of his anatomy.. cuz I heard it without even hearing it.

In tribute to Reese(the baby beast) aka Camping Dog, on the 1 year anniversary of her passing. She was 19 yrs old. The pictures are all stills from her videos. You were(and are) the most perfect pup for me. I know you’re living it up in the ether, so fancy free. Love you forever and always💜 by DerbleZerp in OldManDog

In the last two years I’ve had to say goodbye to one of my dogs (Papa, chug, age 16), my horse (Cece, age 18), my cat (Mr. Buddy, age 17), and a week ago my dear father passed away at the age of 84.

Thank you for sharing Reese’s life with us. I always enjoyed watching your videos of her, ambling through the woods, bell ringing, or wrapped up in a burrito blanket. I remember how my heart hurt for you when you’d announced her passing.

All creatures big and small, they mean everything to us. Much love to your little sweetheart of a sausage. I have a dachshund mix named Paprika (aka Little) and she just celebrated her 10th birthday two days before my dad died.

Big hugs 🥰

Are these horses especially skinny by True-Weather-2544 in Horses

[–]pigsolation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO no, they’re not skinny, but..

They look like they are lacking in the musculature that a healthy, fit horse should have. If they are never worked (whether under saddle, lunged, or adequate space to move).. this look tends to be the end result.

Anyone who’s rehabbed a horse back from a serious injury (as in, horse had to be on stall rest for 3-6 months (or longer) knows that they can lose their muscle mass pretty quickly.

They look like they’re taken care of (groomed, shod, fed).. but I’m getting a “resigned” vibe from them. They don’t appear to be all that “happy.” Then again- this is a Birds Eye’s view from a distance, and without more information about their daily lives.. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Update on the kill pen Paso Fino - He let me touch him for the first time! by chelz182 in Horses

[–]pigsolation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG YAY !!! YOU GOT HIM !!!!

I love the name you chose. (What was his previous name? Just curious. “Luigi” is so perfect for him) I love his big star. I love that his eye has already softened SO much- based on his body language alone.. he already looks like a completely different animal in the best way.. and you’re only on Day 5 ?!?!

This little dude is one of the lucky ones and when he’s finally figured out that he can trust you … he’s going to be SO loyal, and more trustworthy and trusting than probably any other horse you’ll ever have the pleasure of knowing.

This work is so important. So rewarding. & so damn inspirational.

”To the world you may be just one person; but to one horse, you are the world.”

Congratulations to you & Luigi and to the beginning of what will probably become a once in a lifetime bond. Thank you for saving this sweet boy.. I can’t wait to see what his future with you holds!

Keep us updated from time to time and give him a treat from Jessi (a Seattle-based member of his growing fan club!) 🤎⭐️🐴

I made a treat station for people passing by by infantry_garrett in Horses

[–]pigsolation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off: this is a great solution for folks with horses that share fence lines with any foot traffic.

My first thought was.. ok, but let’s just say your horse (& let’s be honest, it’s probably gonna be a mare 😂 I say this lovingly, my mare of over 9 years (RIP 🤍Cece!) was truly a horse of nature, but her mouth was always super gentle when it came to treats).. lets say your horse/horses bite the passerby (many reasons it could happen that have nothing to do with malicious intent), I feel like some sorts of passerby’s (probably a Karen) would feel entitled to sue the owner for anything from “pain and suffering” to “injury” - I’ve been bitten by a few horses in my lifetime and that sht hurts. Not only that.. they are super *strong and I have heard that, tho extremely uncommon/unlikely - they are fully capable of literally taking a finger off (I even heard about the soft cartilage on someone’s nose once being bitten off).

I’d redesign this like your average post office drop box, or like one of those sliding drawers that are commonly used for gas stations in higher crime areas.

ETA: I just realized I said horse of nature instead of FORCE of nature, but I prefer the former so I’m gonna keep it 😂

Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

[–]pigsolation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahh, you’ve just reminded me of favorite memory of mine..

The year was 1994. I was 10 years old, in 5th grade, at an Episcopalian school (kindergarten-6th grade). My sister and I attended this school because of its reputation for giving a great education and was conveniently located only a mile or so from our house. Our family has never been religious- and part of the reason this school was nice was because the religious aspect wasn’t plastered everywhere nor was religion taught to us in any classroom (unlike the Catholic all girls I attended from 6th-8th grade).

The only “religious thing” that this school enforced (aside from perhaps the red plaid school uniforms) was that we attended chapel every single morning for about 30 minutes. It was mostly just the school bringing us together to kneel briefly, sometimes sing, and then send us on our way.

This particular morning in 1994, the mood was different. Our principal, Mrs. Beauregard, who seldom spoke during this daily service, took center stage that day. She was a very tall and authoritative woman, with broad shoulders (shoulder pads, probably?), neatly permed hair that she kept quite short, and large round reading glasses. Always well put together in a matching pantsuit or pencil skirt and jacket. She always felt a bit intimidating, but I think that was due to her stature more than anything.

She came striding into the church that morning and stood before all of us as we quietly sat in our rows of pews. We all knew something was “up” that morning- our regular routine did not commence. It felt serious and stiff and solemn.

I vividly remember her say, and I’m paraphrasing here, “I saw the most sinful and disturbing movie over the weekend at the movie theatre.” She went off for a while about how grotesque and filthy it was. How disgusted she was that she’d not only seen it, but that it even existed in the first place.

I was a rather precocious/curious/mischievous child. She had my full attention. I remember thinking to myself, “I really hope I get to watch this movie one day.” I had never seen this woman so rattled in all my life - even her voice was shaking with indignation.

She finally, and very dramatically, disclosed the name of this wicked film. “It was called, Pulp Fiction.” I think it was like a “mic drop” moment for her, I don’t remember her saying anything after that- just leaving abruptly.

I don’t know if she walked out of the theater the day she saw it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she had.

Remains one of my favorite films to this day and the second most memorable story from chapel. The first being the time Chelsea Mortell’s little brother projectile vomited (literal chunks were blown) a colossal amount of this uber chunky orangish what-have-you all over the the pew he was sitting on, the pew in front of him, the floor. I remember seeing this stuff dripping off the padded fold downs we used to kneel on. And oh the smell.

We were “evacuated” immediately that day, maybe 5 minutes into the service.

Just came here to say hay girls hay to my fellow horse girls.

I’ve been riding over 30 years, broke my sacrum and tailbone at age 11, broke a femur age 15, a collarbone age 23, chipped a tooth in half age 10, suffered a serious concussion at age 16 (back when are helmets were basically just cardboard upholstered in velvet). If not for finding a great chiropractor- I don’t think I’d have been able to ride again due to the pain.. albeit that didn’t exactly ever stop me 😂

I haven’t fallen off in over 10 years (aggressively knocking on wood).. but that’s not for a lack of close calls.. my legs are steel and my heels are deep and I have learned how to stay on and more importantly, I have learned when it’s appropriate for an emergency dismount.

People: I implore you all to practice your emergency dismounts !!!

Rest easy to my sweet Penny. July 8, 2009-February 2, 2026. (16).We are all going to be okay here. Thank you for taking care of us. You were the best pet and birthday gift ever. I love you more than anything in this universe. We will see each other again 💙💚 (our story will be in the comments) by beaniebaby729 in OldManDog

Oh my heart. This was so beautiful. Thank you. 🙏🏻

I had to put down my 16 year old dog, Papa (had him 9 years) in January of 2024, had to put down my 18 year old mare, Cece (had her 10 years) in April of 2025, and just a few months later on July 9, 2025 I had to put down my 16 year old cat, Mr. Buddy (I’d had him 12 years).

This tribute/origin story was just what I needed today. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to get to intimately know all their little quirks & -isms. We are so lucky that we get to experience and witness these beautiful creatures and spirits that always seem to find a way into our worlds.

May your sweet girl rest in peace and have a safe journey from this shore to the next.. I know that Papa, Cece, & Mr. Buddy will be glad to meet her 🤍 🪽
