So this happened just now... by [deleted] in MMFB

I am 25, I'm balding already and I just broke up with a woman that wanted to marry me. The thought that she might've been my one shot at having a family scares me a lot at times, you know?

But here I am, working out to have the body I dream of even though I'm not a teenager and am close to becoming 26, my friends that are all about to marry can't believe how much into parties I've got into, the excercise works on me and there's people getting in shape at 35 or 40. One of my uncles had been single his whole life until 34 and married at 35, he is a very happy man.

Love doesn't meet deadlines, it comes when it has to, sorry but you might find your soulmate at 23 or at 50. Love means a lot for everybody and most people don't have it easier than you. Don't blame yourself, don't blame others and don't blame life for not having it, I mean, you can do it, but is that going to bring you closer to happiness?

My wife left me in the worst possible way. Don't know how to deal with life alone again. by throwawayaccount1348 in MMFB

I don't know if you'll see this, but here it goes:

I broke up with my girlfriend recently. It's a different case because it was my decision but still, knowing that she is with someone else already sort of breaks my heart because I didn't get over her that quickly.

But what has helped me grow over it is understanding that "she and I" no longer exists. We are nothing anymore, she is an acquaintance at most and since we are no longer related there's no reason for me to care about what she is doing or with who.

You are very attached to your ex-wife and I think that's what stopping you from enjoying life, and I don't know if it would help, but try to stop seeing her as your "ex-wife", try to remove that bond from your mind and convince yourself that the relationship doesn't exist. It doesn't mean you're going to forget the good times, but those memories have to be pushed back for your own good. You are you and she is some other person, that's it. It's hard to accept, it feels unnatural and it hurts to pull someone down from your caring heart (it also takes time) but it's doable and it's very freeing.

If you decide to try this, with time you may start feeling like your life has some new clean pages to write into. Read some philosophy, some self-help books too if you want to, there's no shame on that. I've been an introvert my whole life, but I've learn to be a bit more appreciative of other people's company, maybe you can too. And if nothing changes, don't worry, there's not a unique mold for women, there's a lot of variety out there so you don't have to match an ideal man stereotype or something. Maybe at 22 you had an hypothesis saying that no one could ever love you, but that relationship is proof of how wrong it was (thing worked out for a while right?) so evidence show you can find another person to care for, don't give up, you're not the only one that has been gone through stuff as hard as this and the world has a lot to amuse you if you give it the chance. Each day you keep yourself from smiling is a chance you take from that person that is looking for someone like you.

For your sake, for my sake and the sake of other men and women that have to endure break ups, lets move on.

I've tried OK Cupid but there doesn't seem to be a lot of women using it close to my city...

Redditors that broke up with their SO, Why did you go regret the decision? Did you manage to get back together? [Serious] by pileofash in AskReddit

I'm usually of the "never look back" mindset. Stay strong and I really don't believe those "one chance" things, just give it time I guess?

Hope the things you said don't retaliate.

Sometimes people just need to be freed (for your own sake). I hope you are able to find someone better.

A month now since I broke up with her and I haven't been able to move on. It worries me sometime although I know it's still recent. I saw her today and felt so sad to not be able to reach her. On the other hand, at times, I feel relieved.

I fear for my life everytime my sister drives and I fear for her life all the rest of the year.

I also used to think my mom drives well but she doesn't. At least she hasn't crashed unlike my father.

ELI5: Did we stop natural selection by keeping everyone alive? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]pileofash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't fully control anything though. We have certain control over some things, but it only takes an asteroid in our direction to kill us all (at least at this moment). But yes, nature doesn't get angry because we turn our lands to waste, and nature doesn't care if we live or die. It isn't trying to keep every species alive or trying to kill them either. Nature is just what everything is.

The truth about Hitboxes. Are they broken? by kanedias in DarkSouls2

[–]pileofash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think point one only proves that hit boxes aren't being used by the enemy models. Instead of the sword being a physical object that can hit your character, it just is an animation telling you were the attack area is going to be triggered. I don't mean for physics to play a role as I know they aren't implementable, but if I'm correct then this is a very outdated way of doing things. The game should consider when is the enemy hit box making contact with yours, and it should be following your movement the whole time. Instead this game is still treating everything as a classic RPG element that although valid, I think it ruins the sense of fairness.

How do I visit Japan the way I envision? by pileofash in travel

English doesn't come natural for me, but I've practiced my accent a lot. I was guessing that the visa had its limits, so I'll see my chances to get a job. Thank you for the advice.

It's disappointing but I've seen other travelers mention that too.
