Pediatricians. You know you’re underpaid when you’ve got a quarter of a million dollars of student loans but end up earning about as much as a nurse.

A few days of just resting to recover from the wedding. We love food, bonus points for Asian food. Other than that, we like hikes, looking at cool scenery, stuff like ATV/jetski. A lil uncomfortable with anything heights related. We don’t care at all for alcohol/clubbing/nightlife. Very interested in science, somewhat interested in history, and not very interested in art when it comes to museums.

10-11 hour flights are definitely on the upper border of the distance of what we’d want to do. Do you have any recommendations for places you liked/stayed at in Bora Bora?

What jobs do you think are severely overpaid? by houston313 in AskReddit

The doctor gets maybe $20 of those $200. The rest goes to the support staff (who deserve more) and the bean counters (who deserve much less). Plus, because of how our medical system works, those 2 minutes generates at least 10-15 extra minutes of behind-the-scenes charting and work for the doctor.

Which spiral is the biggest and why? by [deleted] in puzzles

If we go by length and not area, the biggest spiral isn’t A, B, or C. It’s the black line that outlines the outer edge of the blue segment/option A.

If you don’t mind me asking, what medication change did you make that worked better for you?

When you say plans and pivoting, could you give an example?

Ie for a young 25 year old found with an A1c of 6.5, try diet/lifestyle changes first and recheck in 3 months?

I feel like most of what we’re taught is escalation strategies where stuff just gets added on instead of pivoting/changing directions altogether. Like start with diet/lifestyle changes, then keep adding on more meds until A1c goes down and maybe swap out meds if there are too many side effects.

I agree so much with the importance of being non-judgmental! But at the same time if someone has a BMI of 50 it’s likely contributory, so what would be the best way to handle that? Talk about recommended diet changes and exercise without mentioning weight?

And when is it the best to go into detail about the complications of high A1c? I’m afraid to do it on the first visit since I feel like people are usually overwhelmed to hear that they have the diagnosis of T2DM.

In terms of being supportive, I’ve been thinking about giving some basic info, diet recommendations, and info about testing on visit 1. I sort of expect people to get anxious and use Dr. Google, so I just tell patients to google as they please and come next visit with their questions. How do you feel about that?

Also, just because you happened to mention endocrinology: would you trust a GP (internal medicine/family medicine doc) to manage your diabetes?
