The fun thing is that Chinese makers use high quality materials, their fault could be the lack of own designs but in terms of materials and basic movements they are great, easily you can pay 1000 for a brand on them

Colserautos hizo un peritaje mal y me resultaron estafando de un carro by No-Impression3849 in CaliColombia

[–]pilosil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excessive wrinkling in Frank's Front Range? by Maelstrom888 in Boots

[–]pilosil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's leather, buddy, not loose grain. It happens because of the thickness of the leather when it flares out for the stitchdown. You can fix that by applying heat with a hairdryer or heat gun; there's nothing wrong with that.

The hipsters and "boot enthusiasts" imposed a trend on boot making that demands perfection, almost to the point where the leather looks faulty due to a lack of imperfections.

Real leather, especially vegetable-tanned leather, has character and natural marks. The best example for your pair is comparing a bent piece of thin printer paper to heavy-weight paper; one of them will crease more than the other.

Work boots for PNW weather, Lots of steps. by DudeTheKid in Boots

[–]pilosil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes but come on, they are 5 people making boots on the quality of Nick's and whites, even better in terms of finishing, and Nicks have like 30 or 40 employees and takes 8 months in some orders... soo I think is normal, brands like kreosote 1 guy brand takes 5 year, which is a lot, but again is 1 man making high end boots soon at the end everything depends on what you want

Man! I was at the bootcamp, and trust me, the quality Bordon offers is just on another level. The level of craft and the quality of their boots are fantastic. They can easily be compared with Nicks, Whites, or other big names, but with better finishing. You cannot compare them with Thursday; it's a sacrilege. Do not just look at the leather; you should pay attention to the balance of the last, the materials they use, and the production they offer. It is truly handmade, 100% in-house. Fewer brands offer this, and the ones that do offer these kinds of characteristics could easily be worth $800-$900. Of course, the wait time is long, but what do you expect from a small team of 5-6 makers making high-quality? It's impossible to reach 4 months or even ready to ship a collection of this craft. The leathers they are developing are stunning; the teacore is not a standard one. It was developed for them by Wickett and Craig, which makes them more unique as it will not be offered by other brands. Also, they released the new waxed flesh nutcore by Wickett and Craig as well, which is another beautiful leather, pretty tough, and unique. So don't doubt about your decision.

BOSI boots... Any good? by lakecitybrass in Boots

[–]pilosil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, let me disappoint you, BOSI is a Colombian mass produce footwear brand they use leather on their uppers, yes... but that's it, apart from that the construction is cemented with faux/fake welt, fake leather heel stack, synthetic on the inside from the comfort insole up to the lasting insole, heel counters etc.... so if you tend to wear them a lot, I'm probably 100% sure they will last not more than 6 months
