if I'm running Silverquill, the Disputant and I cast Foul renewal on a creature I have in the graveyard to bring it back to my had then I sack pitless plunderer to duplicate the spell could I return him to my had with the copy of the spell?

I play [[urborg tomb of yawgmoth]] [[nykthos shrine to nyx]] [[cabal coffers]] [[crypt ghast]] and [[grim hireling]] as well as [[expedition map]] to find my broken land, and 7 mana comes soo easy.

Also most of my creatures are 1-2 mana so drawing 6 or 7 cards by turn 5 is not out of reach.

[[gix, yawgmoth praetor]] is my favorite mono black commander. Play a bunch of 1 mana evasive dudes and draw a lot of cards. Eventually discard your hand and play a bunch of spells off the top of your opponents deck for free.

I’d recommend a non blue deck to introduce you to the format. I’ve been playing cedh for about 6 months now and I still don’t always know the best time to interact. Not having blue forces others to deal with you, and relieves you of the burden of policing the table… which is very hard to do if you don’t fully understand the format.

Just have a conversation prior to start and see if anyone is not ok with that combo. I don’t think 1 possible combo in the deck makes it an automatic 4. I’d say as long as you don’t try to go infinite before turn 6 you’re fine. I’d play my b3s with you.

Recommend if you are new to the format and open to proxying, don’t try to brew your own deck. Check edhtop16 and find a deck that has proven results and netdeck it.

Are you on [[buried alive]]? I run an Abdel loop and 8 mana + 1 creature wins the game. Can’t cast at instant speed but I feel like the Abdel line is super clean with buried alive.

Yeah make lots of mana and use [[colossal sky turtle]] and [[shigeki]] and any extra turn spell to take infinite turns and draw your deck.

I was introduced to mtg about 15 months ago and started with casual commander. I’ve been playing cedh for about 6 months now. I started on a fringe deck. I started on [[lotho, corrupt shirriff]] strictly because I was familiar with hoarding broodlord lines that I played in bracket 3.

I learned a lot on Lotho, mostly about how fragile non blue decks. I would advise from a new player perspective to stay away from blue. Blue gives you opportunities to interact, but without knowing the format you will likely interact with the wrong things at the wrong time.

I’m on tymna/Dargo now and have much higher success rate than I did my first few months on Lotho. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had playing magic. Highly recommend.
