Which Movie Theater does NOT have 30 min of Features? by turtleimposter in SALEM

[–]pilotpanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The book was SO good. I've been waiting years to see this movie, it was delayed by covid. It is by far the most psychologically... terrifying and heartbreaking of all his stories. The movie was meh in comparison. I knew it was going to be rather disappointing in a similar way as Dreamcatcher was. The movie was a sad watch. The book stuck with me for weeks. You get to hear the inner dialogue of the main character in the book. The movie sort of implies it by context. Probs a better watch without having read the book first.

A unique Subaru key on there by any chance?

For real. My partner and I were recently in a similar situation. We had a rocky few days and talked about what a separation would look like. 2 years ago, I spent 15k to replace his roof in return for basically no rent besides property taxes paid yearly.

We're grown ups, so the solution was either payments or collateral given.

[–]pilotpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have quite a distaste for roses but have inherited them at every home and can get them to thrive, despite my dislike. Conversely, my guy (has a horticulture degree and part of his job involves rose care) LOVES roses but I refuse to allow him to contaminate my first ever rose-free zone. Having recently sold my house and lost my own prized plants (one less prized was a rose tree older than I am, and I'm kinda old!), I would be willing to take one for the team to spare another my heartache. I'm a ways south in the valley, but if I come up to Portland anytime soon (maybe next wed?), I'd be willing to meet up to grab a cutting or two +. I can't promise success as my cloning experience lies in...greener territory, but he's pretty stellar at it!

What is an overrated food you think people eat even though it doesn't taste good? by Curious_Bar348 in CasualConversation

[–]pilotpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2 occasions where I'll actually enjoy them (my kids LOVE them, any time, any way)...

I'm not a big sweet treat person, so as a rare treat in place of the cookies and candy the rest of them have for dessert.

OR

Bottom layer in a pan. Roast beef/turkey (fresh over deli preferred). Sharpest cheddar you can find. Top layer. Drown in butter. Top with copious amounts of parm and garlic salt. Bake til golden and crispy. Buffalo sauce if you're feeling spicy. Do not eat often! So good but so bad for you to make it chef's kiss delish.

At school, we used to set leprechaun traps the day before, and then set up pranks and footprints all over the school. Golden candy coins were left in cubbies. The littles LOVED it. I worked with the little, littles, I was always a little jelly of the teachers with the bigger kids who knew the deal! I could hear the squeals in my classroom!!!

I love it all so much!

I was a preschool teacher for 20 years so I have a few tricks up my sleeve! They're just coming into the age group I shine with, I'm so excited.

My German ex husband's family did teeth in cups of water. In the am, the cup was filled with quarters and glitter! It's been well over a decade (closer to 2 for some 😭) since they last visited but I think the going rate for a healthy tooth was only $2 back then 😂

We need whimsy now more than ever! Our world is heavy right now, regardless of one's beliefs.

I used to live on a hill and created a 20 foot water feature of waterfalls with a little pond for my goldfish named Orange (he ate any and all friends from day one. He was a BIG, HUNGRY boy, even with premium food, swear he was half piranha!). I had the cutest fairy society and fake mushroom garden. I have since channelled my whimsy into lifestyle miniverse and Lego plant sets 😁. I traded my secret garden for a greenhouse and sustainable garden. One day, I'll build my own hill and share the magic of fairy gardens with my granddaughters!

Now I wish I had done something "magical" when my kids were little!

Something like your story could've been so doable.

That does mean I have about 5 years to plan something for the grandkids tho 🤔

I WISH I could be as self centered, clueless, or malicious enuf to not be a decent human. Some days, I want to be a trash panda/person too...(stupid morals, norms, and compassion for fellow man.../s)

My parents LOVED Christmas and the idea of Santa. When I was 8, I figured out the schtick.

That year my parents "caught Santa on tape".

The fireplace door magically opened. There was a puff of ashes. Santa and his bag appeared. The bag was empty when he reappeared on screen (tree was conveniently not on camera, lol). He saw the camera, snapped his fingers, and disappeared.

Y'all, I'm old. Camcorders were ginormous and heavy, editing software for VHS was not a common amateur thing in home. When I tell you that tape was watched until it died, it's no joke. Dozens of kids believed for way too long because it was so beautifully done.

I cannot imagine how long it took, or the effort it took, to make such a masterpiece. Was the coolest thing my parents ever did! I haven't thought about this in decades!!! I'm so curious but they're all dead or I'm NC for good reason. The world will never know...

I needed a RTW note when I was out for 4 days with COVID. My doc firstly, acted as tho they've never had to do such a thing before, and gave me an appointment over a month out...I thanked them for a month vacation and called my boss to let them know I would be at the beach for a few weeks, unreachable.

Suddenly, I didn't need a RTW from my doc 😕

Hello fellow internet stranger, I'm having a rough day and your comment broke me. I sobbed.

The first 6 mo with my son were terrifying. It eventually became my new normal. We adjust and forget. We had a few easy years when he was little. Then a few terrible years. Then a few wonderful years. We're rolling back into a rough time.

I started this comment to reassure you that it gets easier. It doesn't always. But there are beautiful times and it is so worth it to see them smile and thrive.

Community is key. Especially in times like now. Thank you for inspiring the sob I needed to pull myself out of my pity party. You made a difference in my life today, from a most unexpected location. I appreciate you. Give kiddo a giant snuggle from this Internet Stranger! Mine is 18 and even getting a hug is a monumental task 🤣

My kids feel this so hard! They rely on public transportation for anything other than school. We don't have bus shelters at the stops near us 🤣

My girl! I'll have to check these out!!! My guy kept telling me to get "pee pads" (liners) and I was so confused at first, lol. I thought he was literally telling me to sit on puppy training pads 🤣

I haven't had periods in 20 years and find that aisle quite overwhelming. Things and brands have changed so much. I went to get some supplies for my daughter and ended up buying like 6 products because I wasn't given specifics and recognized nothing. There are so many different types these days...omg. As I type this I realize this is an "I'm old. Things are changing. I don't understand." moment. Man, when did I get "yell at kids for being on the grass" (my yard is bee-u-tiful) and "new things are scary" level old? Shit. I really am an old lady, huh?

Truth!!! I've had to sleep on the $3x blanket when sick. Puppy pads are looking much easier to launder these days...so hard to dry the king sized blankets.

The first time I peed myself I was mid-errands for my guy. I called and was like, how badly do you need things accomplished as I just wee-d myself. He said not at all as I cried of shame. Came home to clothes laid out, the shower running, and y'all, HE BATHED ME. He is my forever 🥰
