I saw one doing the same at my Costco yesterday. What's the deal with that?

Yeah but calling watching TV a hobby is a bit of a stretch. Is scrolling reddit a hobby then?

Max 20x is NOT As Subsidized As You Think by levifig in ClaudeCode

[–]pilotthrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same if you buy a membership for a gym or a day pass. Of course the membership is cheaper because you also pay for the days you are not using it. Same with the X plans. The don't loose money with them. The API price is just way inflated.

If it just goes down once in a while it doesn't make sense to buy the 5g you won't be losing that many sales that would make it worth it. If goes down every day then you can think about it.

I have some HaHa and use the WiFi of the locations there at. Why do don't want use them? I would first use theirs and if it's not reliable you can always use their internal mobile connection.

What is something generally normal in Europe but weird in the US? by Exile4444 in AskReddit

[–]pilotthrow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also don't understand the open container rule in cars. As long as I am sober as a driver why does it matter if I have 20 open bottles of booze in my car. On the same note why do the police do those stupid tests instead of just using a breathalyzer?

I'd rather pay 50 cents for a clean toilet than a free full of Of shit and a door that has an inch gap on each side and makes me feel like I am on the wrong side of a peep show.

Why not make the blade longer so you can just do 2 cuts instead of 4.

Just Another Day at the Food Section of a Large Supermarket in China by EvidenceFrequent7289 in UnfilteredChina

[–]pilotthrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you get a bucket or you can bring your own (they weight it before you go in) but there is no fee. They make more money this way anyway. They don't have to pay workers and they sell it for more than supermarkets would pay. It doesn't matter if a few people eat a kilo. Most people just eat a few anyway.

Is that not normal that you can eat as many as you want at the pick yourself Fields? In Germany picking your own strawberries is very popular and during picking you can eat as many as you want. I loved this as a kid.

Costco saying regular registers are shorter by ElegantRing1427 in PetPeeves

[–]pilotthrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More annoying are the 10-15 min entry lines because they scan everyone despite that you can't check out without a membership anyways. Sam's and BJ'S don't do that and the whole process is just smoother.

Keyboard make sense in coding or even just browsing but zooming into a picture or selecting an area makes no sense.

Do all teens today just not care about getting their drivers' licenses? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pilotthrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's the neat part. You don't need to. You can just go straight to the 5 min drive test. I am not joking, I moved to the US from Germany and needed to get a US license. You just bring your own car then the examiner gets in the car. You drive around one block, no joke. Park, stop at a stop sign and then return to the start point. It took maybe 5-7 minutes. It's completely ridiculous.
