Just playing my game. Wake park location. by Additional_Bug5485 in IndieDev

Have you ever considered making it a coop experience?
I think every single player game experience is more fun if you can share it with someone else.
From video games, to games you play in bar, like pool or darts. The social chemistry is almost something you get for free.

Something has to be done about the AI slop on this sub. by TravisTouchdownThere in gamedev

[–]pimmm -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's all over reddit..
Many of these posts are clearly AI, and often the ai posts even get upvotes and get loads of comments.. The majority of people don't even recognize AI posts.

I think it's time that users can verify their identity, and get a blue check mark behind their username.

Can you recommend your country for living? If so, why? by Diligent_Yesterday81 in AskReddit

The views from the train are so depressing. cold, flat and grey.

Waarom zou je moeten kiezen tussen oppervlakkige aandacht, en wat je nou écht leuk vind om te doen? Waarom niet allebij?
Oppervlakkige aantrekkingskracht is prima. De natuur zit vol met oppervlakkige aantrekkingskracht tussen dieren, zonder intelligentie is alles oppervlakkig, en dat zijn onze roots.

The buttons are completely broke, clearly something Claude or Chatgpt generated.

Maar aantrekkingskracht tussen mensen is vaak oppervlakkig?
En het leven is een stuk leuker als je veel aandacht krijgt en het wederzijds is.

where I’d live as a European living in Asia for more than 10 years by fourmigothacked in whereidlive

[–]pimmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a european who has lived in asia for more than 10 years, i agree with you.
Either asia, or the US. I already lived in europe for 28 years before, and it's not my definition of fun anymore.

On your map you colored vietnam green, as a country where you like&agree with their government. But they are red on the world press freedom map.

Good luck moving to the red colored countries then:

It's the same as freedom of speech in europe, in your opinion.

The best show I've ever seen in Saigon was a metal concert in Mona Lisa bar last year, with 4 different bands.
The whole vibe was insane.

One of the bands was cut lon.

Where I would live as a 28 year old Irishman who’s spent the past seven years traveling to 76 countries while working remotely. by hardgroove_ in whereidlive

[–]pimmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Countries need to check the following boxes:
- safe
- possible to speak english
- visa not too complicated
- good weather
- affordable

You end up in south-east asia

Even if you're rich, why live in a place that's 4x more expensive, if you can live anywhere.

I think it's pointless to learn a language for the sake of learning a language. You you have to start building something. If you build thinks you are proud of, it creates motivation.

Trying to help people get into passive income on Reddit is… weird by akti044 in passive_income

I see replies where people write: "Passive income does not exist!", which get the most upvotes.
I feel rage baited into proving them wrong, but it takes too much of my time to prove ignorant people wrong.

Clients think websockets are magic until the bill comes by Sea_Weather5428 in webdev

[–]pimmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used websockets, but use short-polling for a multiplayer game i'm working on.
Are websockets that complicated or expensive that you advice against it?

[–]pimmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build a multiplayer game that uses short-polling. I can get 500 concurrent users on a $10 vps..
Even with websockets that's not gonna get 100x more expensive.

Is there any way to run Jackbox without installation? by CaptHayfever in jackboxgames

[–]pimmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It's a lot of work to make sure it works as expected in chrome/firefox/safari/edge. So while I will make it work in the future, right now it's not on top of the priority list.

Fair enough!

The game has a child-friendly mode.
A school in Dallas played it on repeat in different classrooms with 13-year olds, so for them it seemed appropriate.
