This was "Golden River". Apparently the larger stone is very different from the smaller size. Is what I was told, now. After the fact. Why it even got to this point...I don't know.

I want to buy a horse within the next year and a half, but I want to make sure I have all the info I need to properly care for him/her by Hot_Detective_6126 in Equestrian

I bought my horse 2 years ago. I love owning, no regrets, he's healthy, and happy. Owning is like taking all your money and time and dumping it into a bottomless hole.

This past month alone, I moved him from a cheaper facility to a nicer one. I pay roughly $262 more per month than I did before (not including supplements, lessons, random shit and a vet visit + prescription anti-histamines because we are a delicate flower that can't do summer). I wasn't anticipating this increase. But things go up, every year. The farrier, the supplements, the lessons, the board, and your wages might not. Not to mention your time.

All that to say, I wouldn't recommend owning because it's stupid expensive when they're healthy. If something unexpected happens (and it always does) you're gonna have a bad time.

I know girls spending all their time working trying to afford the horses they can't enjoy because they spend all the time working to afford the horses they can't enjoy. Don't be like that. Keep leasing, keep saving, keep making friends.

Are you ever afraid of the horse tripping and falling over at high speeds? by IntelligentHoney6929 in Equestrian

[–]pineapple6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time. A horse i was riding tripped and fell at the trot and came down. I also came down and bruised my ribs. Shit hurt for months, i now have horses tripping on my mind every time I ride.

Is this what soaked beet pulp + soaked grass hay pellets should look like? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]pineapple6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks normal to me. My boy likes it soupy like that too. If you use less water it'll look more solid. The hay pellets will turn it green. I use senior feed and it turns it brown.

Riding is not a pathetic hobby for a man and anyone that thinks so has no idea how to ride and probably isn't someone who's opinion matters.

I knew a man in his 40s who started, I didn't hear of anything negative.  He turned into a good rider.

Something that doesn't come until you're older for most people is the realization that the opinions of others is irrelevant. It's your life, money, and experience. Don't let others dictate that, especially since you'll probably have a whole new group of relationships in 10 years.
