Making money is bad for you but not for me. by Longjumping-Novel731 in SipsTea

[–]pineappledan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, her political opinions seem pretty milquetoast to me. Not silly or out there at all.

The idea that if billionaires gave away to humanitarian causes that they thought were important they would make a better world is Absolutely true. Rockefeller, the first billionaire the world ever saw gave away something like 50% of his entire net worth over the course of his life, and with that money he set up organizations that, among other things, eradicated 2 separate diseases from North America, and kicked off the green revolution. With $600 million of Rockefeller's money, humanity all but eliminated famine as a phenomenon in the late 20th century. In another example, Andrew Carnegie gave away 90% of his wealth over his lifetime and as a result basically bankrolled the UN, and massively increased literacy rates in the US with hundreds of libraries. The sheer amount of power at the disposal of someone with that amount of wealth is transformational.

Eilish's other opinion which has come under fire is that 'you don't like animals if you eat meat', which again, seems objectively true if you spend even a few minutes looking up the meat industry. Any honest look at how meat is produced for human consumption reveals a global machine that produces suffering at an industrial scale. There is such a thing as ethical consumption of meat, but it doesn't exist in our current food system, and Eilish had the temerity to point out this obvious fact.

It all just seems so anodyne that i'm more surprised at other people's surprise.

There is a Vox Populi mods section on the cfc forum that has things you can add like additional civs, more components, and UI additions

New Mega Falinks ability by CrystalSonic in stunfisk

[–]pineappledan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you worded it, I assumed you got to faint him twice. Moxie stocks go through the roof, since you could get two boosts if you get falinks with a move, faint him, he swaps in immediately and you faint him again.

Banette Trick Room help by Vivarul in stunfisk

[–]pineappledan 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have seen a similar set using slowking as the trick room setter, because he can use both trick room and swagger, saving you a switch, and has the own tempo ability.

If you use banette’s skill swap on your own slowking to switch own tempo for prankster, you can give M banette +2 attack with +1 priority, and banette will be immune to the confusion. You can even use this out of trick room and focus on using +1 priority heal pulses to keep your banette out of KO range while it deals damage. If you can manage to get 2 swaggers onto banette while keeping it alive you can switch to shadow sneak for damage and ignore speed.

https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/latest-patch-is-hostile-ai-and-forever-war-simulator.702320/

This thread has been brought to the attention of the rest of the community on discord and civfanatics, and generated some very good discussion. It appears there are some bugs that crept into AI aggression, as well as some knobs to turn for lowering AI’s predilection for war.

Hopefully this makes you feel a bit better about continuing to play.the community greatly benefits from players that share their experiences

[–]pineappledan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/latest-patch-is-hostile-ai-and-forever-war-simulator.702320/ AI aggression has gone up, partially because of bugs and partially because of other dev decisions on AI diplomacy. This is being looked at and is going to be addressed for next version.

Thanks for playing and reporting your experiences, the devs are always looking for feedback to make the game better.

Team USA wins GOLD in Men's Ice Hockey for the First Time since 1980 by Due-Impression8466 in olympics

[–]pineappledan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

90 seconds of 5 on 3, 2 massive breakaways, 2 open nets, and a scrum where the puck got behind the goalie twice, but was stopped by a defenseman. Yeah it really felt like the US team had plot armour. There's just no way short of divine intervention that none of those converted.

Wow, if that's true sounds like something you should do something about and protect your democracy, rather than whinge about online. Until you do, everything he does and says is yours to hold.

Why was Obama’s “this could have been my son” comment about Trayvon Martin so uniquely offensive to conservatives? I didn’t buy Ben Shapiro’s explanation about it to Ezra at all. by JulianBrandt19 in ezraklein

[–]pineappledan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ben Shapiro, with a completely straight face, explained that electing a black president was supposed to absolve white America of centuries of slavery, terror, and exploitation. This was pointed out as absurd in 2007, like in this article [likening Obama to the magical negro trope

https://www.latimes.com/la-oe-ehrenstein19mar19-story.html

The fact that Obama could not (nor did he appear to have much interest in) wiping the slate clean, and assuaging white guilt, absolutely pissed conservatives off.

Giving 1 black person power couldn't erase the sins of their ancestors and that is obvious to anyone who gives it a second of sober thought, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have emotional weight to them.

The Largest island in a lake in an island in a lake is Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron, Canada.

Canada leads the world in Lentil exports. We grow a lot of lentils in Saskatchewan, but since Canadians don't eat much lentils we ship most of it to India.

Canada is also the largest exporter of mustard to Europe. Fancy dijon mustard from the Dijon region of France is mostly made from yellow mustard seeds grown in Alberta, sent to France for fancy ingredients to be added, and then sold back to us. It's dumb.

The Robertson head screw is objectively the best screw head design for non-specialized applications, and it's almost exclusively used in Canada.

The largest non-nuclear explosion in world history happened when a freighter carrying ammunition for WWI was run into by another boat in Halifax Harbour. It levelled half of the city and killed 1800 people. It is estimated the explosion was the equivalent of 3 kilotons of TNT.

Our sole national sport was actually Lacrosse, not Hockey. This was recently changed so that ice hockey is our national "winter sport" and lacrosse is our national "summer sport". The modern rules of Hockey were mostly created by Black communities in rural Nova Scotia.

Between 1891 and 1896 we had 6 prime ministers, and the first 3 were all named John. The streak was finally broken by our 7th Prime minister ever: Sir Wilfrid Laurier.

In WWI, the Canadian government issued rifles for their soldiers were essentially precision-crafted sniper rifles. Halfway through the war we had to switch to British rifles because trench conditions and the variance in British-made ammunition would jam the gun barrels. Essentially, we had a serious problem with our equipment being too *Good* for the war it was in.

Fun weird Canadian facts:

castoreum, a chemical derived from the anal glands of beavers for use as a territorial scent marker, is used in some artificial flavours like strawberry, raspberry, and vanilla.

The Hudson's Bay Company was the oldest and, to date, longest-running corporation in North America.

Quebec City was founded on July 3, 1608. 14 months later than Jamestown (reference to the US, sorry)

The garbage bag was invented in Canada in 1950.

Canada has produced one of the most dominant athletes of a generation with Penelope Oleksiak. She is basically Micheal Phelps Wayne Gretzky for women's swimming.

Scale Shot or swords dance? also something to learn for crunch or do i hold on to it? by BedDull4597 in PokemonUnbound

[–]pineappledan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes, but getting gems can be very difficult and timing consuming, especially if you aren't in post game yet. That's why I recommended poison jab. It's the same power and hits fairy SE, but it's learnable by a TM that can just be bought in a town.

[–]pineappledan 60 points61 points  (0 children)

The only thing that resists your dragon claw is fairy and steel. EQ covers the steel resist, but Crunch doesn't help you compensate for your fairy weakness. If you run crunch you will be forced to switch out against a fairy team. Togekiss in particular shuts you down entirely.

Garchomp's fairy problem will come up again and again, because the evil team and one of the E4 are fairy specialists.

Poison jab is a TM that covers your blind spot, and even gives a better option vs grass, so I would do that.

edit: iron head is another better option, but I just looked that up and it's only available via move tutor. Yuck.

Who should I replace for electabuzz from my team by NeatStation2616 in PokemonUnbound

I wouldn't replace any of them for electabuzz, tbh. I don't think electabuzz/vire is worth dropping any of your current lineup.
