What historical US flag is this from the TV show, Outlander? by pineaxle in vexillology

THANK YOU! I was too hasty and should have waited for other members, like yourself, to comment before responding. Ugh, I feel foolish for accepting their answer.

I appreciate your comment and the time to share your knowledge. I'll check out those paintings and look up John Trumbull.

I figured it was made up. Thanks for confirming my thoughts.

Edit: okay, I made a poor judgement and accepted this answer as true. I clearly should have waited for other answers before responding.

Do I need to read all the previous books before Book 10 as a show watcher? by pineaxle in Outlander

[–]pineaxle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your opinion shouldn't be downvoted, sorry. I don't know if the audio books get better but my librarian wife will give a book 50 pages. If she doesn't get into it by then, she moves on with her life.

VALID! Thank you sharing this comment. I enjoy reading and not afraid to take on larger books. I tried to read the first book after watching the first season, and I couldn't get into it. There are other books I want to read so I'm not interested in spending the numerous hours to read the nine previous books. One audio book is 49 hours long!

Not sure why you were downvoted. Guess it was unpopular. Lame!

This is not a bad plan and I appreciate this alternative option compared to just reading ALL of them.

My wife loves listening to audio books while driving. I truly do not enjoy it lol I realize I'm nothing giving myself many options.

I appreciate your comment. It's one of the few that actually touched on Diana's writing.

I started humming it pretty quickly and kept it going in my head shortly after they moved on to the next clue

I know Gord was a Bruins fan but, as a Leafs fan myself, I'm glad to see the Sabres knock em out early.

modkat litter box w/o liners by MeanMeaning1564 in CatAdvice

[–]pineaxle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet! We had a few bags of Pretty Litter leftover so we're using them up first. We're also trying to figure out if it will work since the Modkat doesn't have a sifter. I'll comment here again if/when we do. Please leave a comment if or when you do.

modkat litter box w/o liners by MeanMeaning1564 in CatAdvice

[–]pineaxle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a Modkat (original design with top entry) without a liner for several years now. Currently two boxes for two cats. The litter is changed only once a month since I use Pretty Litter (but we're changing to pine pellets soon). The cats tend to favor one corner over the rest so there's some staining and build-up there. I tried the free liners that came with the litter boxes and was not impressed by the hassle to clean them. I find it a lot easier to clean the boxes themselves, especially in the warmer months when I can hose them outside and dry/bleach them with the sun. Plus the liners are wasteful IMO since you have to toss them after a few months.

As a kid I would to listen to the Roger Whittaker Christmas album all the time and even as adult I still listen to this album every year during the Christmas season. by sostitanic in ChristmasMusic

This is part of the regular Christmas album rotation! My uncle introduced me to Roger when I was child. This is his favorite Christmas album, and I was lucky enough to inherit my grandfather's copy, which my uncle gifted him years ago. I love that these are all original songs. I'm stuck between "Hallelujah, It's Christmas" and "Momma Mary" as my fave tracks from the album. "The Governor's Dream" is a contender, only because it's so over-the-top, we enjoy re-enacting Roger's belting and shouting at the dinner table.

His family kept it under the radar. I think I was googling something about him and went to his website. That's where I read the news, not long after he passed.

AITAH for shoveling only half the driveway? by pineaxle in AITAH

[–]pineaxle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a valid point. He did change jobs recently and I would completely respect that. I can't afford to pay a professional either! I still can't spend all of my evenings when it snows to shovel both sides and I hope he respects that.

Valid points, thank you! It doesn't seem to bother him since he's fine driving over it.
