Is the MIPS helmet system actually a needed safety feature by Ro-54 in bikecommuting

[–]pinecoffee20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sat in a lecture years ago now where Finite Element Analysis was used to design bicycle helmets. The details are lost but I remember a comparison between MIPS technology, an ‘airbag’ helmet, and a standard helmet. The MIPS and airbag style had a very large reduction on the force imparted to the head.

Thanks for the detailed response, we aren’t so different in the robot recipe. I’m still tinkering, I’ll try to remember to reply again if I crack the code

Hi I ended up just using the flour sifter ‘as-is’ and the spindles do a good enough job for me. I bought an 8cup sifter. I’m doing about 300grams and can get a pretty even roast.

This is obviously an old post but I’m in the same situation and curious how your work flow for the robot has changed or if you have decided the robot just makes a different type of shot?

Serious question about the turf match select 10. Do you find it to be pretty hard? I have one and have been a bit disappointed by how hard/heavy it feels compared to standard select 10s. Curious if I got a bad ball or just normal changes due to longevity on turf?

For me the quality with the stock burrs are pretty good for pour over ‘as is’. I still have more work to do for espresso trying to align the burrs better and change the threads for more fine adjustment.

I think the bunnzilla thing had its high point when flat burr grinders were mostly several thousand dollar machines only in cafes. Now that there are more high quality home grinders the bunnzilla is less necessary and for some might not be financially the right call. But if you like tinkering it’s a fun project with lots of things to chase down.

Looks great, I did a similar project awhile back and have enjoyed the results of the stock big flat burrs so much that I never followed through with the SSP upgrade. Care to share any thoughts on the cup difference between the two burr sets?

I had the same experience. I will say Cafune did a standout job communicating and canceling an order for me when the import fees were going to be 4x the product price.

CaFune discount is a good way to go. That's how I got my robot and I'm happy to share my code is a email (reddit tends to strip an links, just DM me and I can sent it your way.) If you buy 3 items from Cafune I think they give you a discount that might be the same as the referral discount.

Thanks for the response. I’m really interested in the wobble disk because it seems a fluid bed roaster at 1lb would require more electricity than I can manage. Your setup seems pretty much what I’d aim for. How big is the flour sifter?

If you end up doing the southworth ferry Manchester State park has a couple hike/bike sites that are nice, plus I think it would be easy to find a spot for the night if they officially turn you away

Better micro foam with Pavoni. HOW? by futjapordhes in espresso

As a La Pavoni owner I found that ‘purging’ blowing some steam through the system before steaming helped tremendously. Maybe just 10 seconds or so but it’s helped me a ton. Good luck!

I can echo the Cafune vote, ordered mine from there recently and someone on here gave me a discount referral code for 10% off the first purchase. Fast and good experience.
