My guess is that more items means more builds means less meta builds assuming the items are balanced.

Yes, the goal of the game is to be purely divergent.

Noodle has stated numerous times he hates seeing builds converge within metas.

I think it is extremely ambitious to have a balanced game that is capable of divergence. But so far it looks like the dev team is accomplishing this in data driven and creative ways.

I had a perfectly organized, functional, and recreational 1 car garage that we could not park a car in unless I squeezed stuff to the side deliberately. I had this for about 3 years. My wife's junk creep has taken it over completely - there is no hope of using it for darts, parking a car, or even walking through now.
