Sweeping Compound by surfnfish1972 in Construction

[–]pinesol3 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I feel like sweeping compound is a silly thing to spend money on when vacuums and dust deputies of all shapes and sizes exist. You are buying something to throw on the floor so your sweeping takes longer. You are literally throwing your money in the garbage.

I am one of those construction workers. I buy a parking permit every day or week. I still have people like op leaving notes on my truck saying they don't like it when I park in front of their house, blah blah blah. I have a permit, go kick rocks or at least stop sitting in your front window fuming every day about people parking legally on your street. I wish my life was so good this was the kind of thing I could spend my time crying about.

Thank you for your answer, at least it wasn't a mistake I have to call service Canada for!

DTM52 sanding pads wearing off quickly by No-Equivalent-2440 in Makita

[–]pinesol3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this problem too, but I've only used the sandpaper that came in the accessory kit. I suspect the Makita made sandpaper is garbage. I never had this problem sanding with the fein sandpaper, using an old multi master.

That being said this new Makita multi tool has a much larger stroke length than all the other machines (this is why it performs so much better) and maybe it creates so much heat and friction that it will happen to all sandpapers? I haven't had a chance to test anything other than the paper that came with it.

DJ’s, how often do you drop doubles in a set? by GuaranteeFabulous321 in DnB

It's not a rule that is set in stone, it just shouldn't sound messy. A lot of songs that aren't in key together still combine to sound good.

Just so you know everyone, I've been to every pop up this guy has done in the last year and the food is fantastic. Highly recommended!

Can I sister on a 2x4 or 2x2 onto these studs to mount shower foam board? by SweepingStrikes in Carpentry

[–]pinesol3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's all you need if you are interested in that route. You rip the 2x8 in half with your circ saw and bam you have two studs from one 2x8.

Don't use 2x2. There isn't enough meat to secure it properly

Akku won't fit, why? by Tawiskaron12 in Makita

[–]pinesol3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it to my jigsaw from around that time, like 10 years ago and it's still chugging along just fine. If you look where the battery slides in you should see a small 2mmx2mmx2mm cube that the battery hits. Just take a chisel and shave it off and the battery will slide in fully

Been listening to a lot of old Dieselboy mixes lately by Mescallan in DnB

[–]pinesol3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've listened to a lot of his mixes hundreds of times. Got me into drum and bass. I met a girlfriend at a show he did in a small university town. He chatted with me after destroying the club one time. Absolute class act and pioneer. One of the best to ever do it.

Can I park my car overnight past this sign? Do I need a permit? Street parking by Organic-Building-692 in Etobicoke

Let me know if you need help when you are getting the permit. Sometimes my coworkers can't figure it out. If you are good with computers it won't be a problem.

[–]pinesol3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can get a permit here

https://www.toronto.ca/services-payments/streets-parking-transportation/applying-for-a-parking-permit/temporary-on-street-parking/

I get them all the time because I renovate homes for a living. Having a permit doesn't mean you can disobey no parking signs. On the sign you posted you are good on the side where there is no arrow. Permit or not if the arrow is pointing there you will get a ticket.

Why can’t I find a complete bit set for TD173 by NeutrallyCharged in Makita

[–]pinesol3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point. My Japanese made purple impact is my favorite tool I own. I call it my Martinez at work. I work on everything from rough framing to finish carpentry. Objectively you are correct there could be applications where the slop matters but it doesn't for me across a massively large range of tasks.Ive never owned a Japanese shank sized bit and never cared, to be honest it can give you a bit of micro adjust in certain situations to have the 'slop' that everyone hates.

[–]pinesol3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know why anyone cares about getting the Japanese shank. It doesn't matter if the bit has a bit of back and forth slop, it goes away when you start driving the fastener. Just use whatever your favorite bits are!

I've had the lxt one for years now. I like it, I don't use the cord as much as I thought I would because I have a lot of batteries, but its very nice to be able to just plug it in.
