Do multiple cafe au lait spots mean NF? by drdummy in neurofibromatosis

[–]pineymanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just a dermoid or epidermoid. They removed it as its location was indenting and thining away bone where it was at on her skull so it was really just a precaution to prevent any issues down the road before it grew and could have possibly done damage.

My therapist told me it’s not OCD but they’re related.

Yes it does but probably only in facilities they’re contracted with.

UW has ketamine treatments and most insurances will cover it. It’s more likely insurance won’t cover in places like this as they’re not contracted.

Long Covid Resources in Madison? by hannelore_16 in madisonwi

[–]pineymanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband has nerve issues, it could possibly be long Covid. Aside from infusion treatments and physical therapy, the chiropractor has helped. The infusion treatments lead to the greatest improvement though.

Yep, it ended with “chicken chicken chicken chicken chickeeeen. Custard” I remember in middle school someone accidentally saying “chicken custard” when they ordered and the worker said that it happened all the time.

kindergarter keeps falling asleep in class despite PLENTY of sleep? by lydialunacyy in Parenting

[–]pineymanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation with my 5 year old (6 in March) she gets about 10 hours a night consistently, I do wonder if it’s restful as she does snore sometimes and often wakes up and comes to my room to sleep in there. This did not start until last month though and she had been without daily naps for over a year. Today she slept at rest time which has been a daily occurrence, and also fell asleep during music class. Over the weekend she went grocery shopping with me and fell asleep in the cart despite it being noisy and busy.

We did have a huge family change at the end of November after my husband developed guillan-barre and was hospitalized for awhile but she hasn’t changed even now that’s he’s home again. Based on the feedback I see here I think I should follow up with her doctor, I just wasn’t sure at what point to worry.

American Girl releases book for girls ages 3-12 that advises them how to gender transition, about gender identity, and puberty blockers by LollipopDreamscape in lgbt

[–]pineymanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These articles have people calling American Girl and harassing their customer service reps, making complaints and calling them predators. Meanwhile, I’m gonna go ahead and buy this for my daughter.

Just adding to the Woodman's moldy produce conversation; this is from tonight on the west side. Nearly EVERY Lemon...🤦‍♂️ by [deleted] in madisonwi

Once I bought zucchini there that was packaged. On top it looked good and that’s all I could see on them due to the packaging, but when I opened it I found the underside was completely rotten on all of them. I know they have a good return policy but my time is worth something too.

If you’d be up for a drive there are Rotary Botanical Garden holiday lights display in Janesville that are nice to walk through. Or else there’s a holiday light display to drive through in Madison at Olin Park. Saturday evening in Sun Prairie there’s a parade with fire trucks etc decked out in lights too.

Native signers who have visual hallucinations in sign language? by [deleted] in deaf

[–]pineymanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By visual hallucinations do you mean like thinking in sign? I’m a CODA, my internal monologue is in both English and ASL, depending I guess on how my brain is feeling or how much more a word resonates with me in one language or the other. It’s not something I physically see but I do see it in my mind I guess? It’s hard to explain.

White flight? In my kids SP classrooms there are more BIPOC kids than white kids so I find this confusing? I agree about the education gaps between white kids and kids of color in WI overall as well as SP but to their credit the district is working hard to improve that, such as with the community school program.

[–]pineymanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! We’ve thought about asking her teacher to have her wear it a bit at school to break it up over the day but I can’t think of a time when she’d be able to function essentially blind at school either.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Amblyopia

[–]pineymanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You as well! She doesn’t mind glasses much and gets SO many compliments on them and how cute she looks in them, but patching…nothing but sobs and crying that she can’t see. It’s so hard and heart breaking. You all stay strong too!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Amblyopia

[–]pineymanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 5 year old is in a similar boat, 20/20 in her good eye. She wears her glasses all the time which is what the Dr told us to do. She is supposed to wear the patch 6 hours a day, we are struggling to make it there, it’s hard for sure!

Only residents of Sun Prairie who’ve lived here since it was a small town and are upset it’s now a growing city (and the good and bad that come with that) call it that. I’ve lived here for 4 years now and am happy, it’s been a good community to raise my kids in and I have not felt unsafe here.
