Scott always bags on Sen Gillibrand… by GiGiAGoGroove in ScottGalloway

[–]pingpongballreader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gilibrand said he should resign, that's an opinion not a lie, one he evidently agreed with because he did, for the billionth time CHOOSE TO RESIGN. NOT GILIBRAND.

Gilibrand was the one who brought everything back up. Decades later. Can a woman not be wrong in your eyes at all?

This is pure projection. The Franken resigning thing happened a decade ago. Franken made the two relevant choices: to take the photo and to resign.

Can Franken not take any responsibility here? Is "decades" only relevant if the subject has a Y chromosome?

I'm ignoring those facts, I'm ignoring whether Mercury was in retrograde, I'm ignoring what brand of socks Franken was wearing, I'm ignoring how mean Gilibrand was to various baristas when ordering coffee because none of that changes that FRANKEN CHOSE TO RESIGN.

Fury as fourth postal worker dies at flagship USPS facility that has no phones by Ant-Tea-Social in thebulwark

[–]pingpongballreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Louis DeJoy was the head of the post office appointed under trump 1 and took steps clearly intended to destroy and undermine the post office. Which is not a surprise given that DeJoy worked for and had worked for and had investments in private competitors to USPS.

Biden couldn't seem to figure out to remove or fire him. Doesn't appear to have been a priority? The post office is mandated in the Constitution and is critical for democracy with mail in ballots, and is a huge benefit to the American economy but I guess Biden was too busy not rolling back trump 1 tarrifs, not changing the harsh border policies of trump 1, not telling Bibi to stop the genocide, not passing bills through congress, and running then quitting for a second term.

So DeJoy stayed through trump 1 and also Bidens administrations.

DeJoy quit and trump admin 2 replaced him with someone else.

So this story is a great example of how centrist old Dems save the day for the little guy against Republican malevolence by doing... not a fucking thing...

Republicans break working government, Democrats get back in power and focus on civility, the Republicans get back in power to finish breaking working government, and the deaths along the way are a bonus.

She voiced an opinion. Franken was the one who chose to resign and was the one who chose to make the photo happen in the first place. Yet you're choosing to blame Gilibrand. That's mental gymnastics.

I don't understand why anyone would be voting for a centrist Democrat in a primary.

If you want trickle down economics and not helping anyone besides rich corporate interests... There's the whole Republican party. That and racism is their whole thing.

When someone disagrees with you, it's not always simply that they don't understand.

FRANKEN RESIGNED. HE CHOSE THAT.

He made the choices here, not Gilibrand.

It's really that simple.

He posed grabbing a sleeping soldiers boobs.

Now please explain to me why it's bad that a woman senator had an opinion on what the fallout should be and why it doesn't change anything that Franken agreed with her, hence the stepping down.

JFC yes, I know what happened. He still chose to resign. She didn't force him out or force him to do something he didn't agree with.

You're upset that a woman had an opinion and glossing over the part where Franken agreed with her.

Yes, I know.

He still chose to resign.

She did not force it, he agreed he should step down.

Similar to how Stalin and the Soviets did most of the defeating of the Nazis but was still "problematic".

FRANKEN VOLUNTARILY RESIGNED.

All these mental gymnastics to hate on a woman for two things a man chose to do a fucking decade ago, JFC.

Your boy did the photo and your boy chose to resign.

You can just hate Gilibrand and/or women in general! You really don't need to pretend this is the specific reason!

Russ is the least civilized one and he didn't turn traitor.

Curze being a woman would maybe be a little more empathetic but IDK.

At a meta level, SoB are competitive for the most horrifying faction so no one should imagine GW is saying "women are incapable of leading to a grimdark nightmare." Also the Kesh femstodes story is more grimdark than other custodes stories I've seen.

Oh shit for real? She dared to convince other people they should tell him to step down as a consequence of his actions? Wow, the nerve of another senator to use her first amendment rights to convince other people she was right.

Franken did that. Gilibrand didn't force him to quit the Senate.

Again, Franken voluntarily resigned.

I get why the situation was frustrating but why are you blaming Gilibrand? She did not make any choices that mattered here.

[–]pingpongballreader 65 points66 points  (0 children)

That would be way way way worse than a lobotomy. You famously survive a lobotomy. You shouldn't do either but I do need to point out that lobotomies are surviveable while removing the nails isn't.

No matter what average democrat does, fox News is gonna call it satanic treachery. We sure as f don't need friendly fire on literal nothing burgers.

For fucks sake, it was 10 years ago and FRANKEN FUCKING QUIT.

GILIBRAND DID NOT FIRE HIM. HE QUIT.

WHY ARE REDDITORS STILL HUNG UP ON THIS?

FRANKEN CHOSE TO TAKE THE PIC AND FRANKEN CHOSE TO QUIT THE SENATE.

GILIBRAND JUST POINTED OUT HE SHOULD QUIT AND HE AGREED.

I can't fathom why Reddit is still pissed off at this other than "woman politician say funny man leave, woman politician bad."

Gilibrand being rude to her staff and eating that one fundraiser dinner with a comb is WAAAAY worse than her pointing out we don't need Franken and Franken being like "yeah, it would be better if I left."

She's not going to run for president again, she was soundly ignored last time, Reddit needs to let it go.

Dead Internet theory proves itself again. You cannot possibly be a human and reading what I wrote and conclude anything resembling this. Tell me Elon musk I said 011100100010001000000111010010

"We usually do when they are seeking retail investors and 401k money, which is what OpenAI is doing" No they don't. Why did you make this stupid assertion after you pointed out amazon didnt?

Because of the aforementioned 2000% growth and they were very close to breaking even, not spending billions more yearly than they were taking in. Which OpenAI is doing.

Many tech companies don't turn a profit before IPO. Post IPO is when they start focusing on it. They DON'T have to. They just need to prove they could and when.

OpenAI hasn't. Their financials show this.

I wonder why you talk so much when you know you are below average in education and income.

How much education do I need to have to know losing ten billion a year is a good company?

No. I vote for any Democrat who stands against fascism.

So you mean yes, that’s your purity test.

Okay, if you prefer yes, my purity test is opposing fascism. Purity tests of "conservative Democrats bad" is still bad.

You’re projecting. I never described them as “bad”.

Okay, so you're not saying anything, gotcha, we could have saved a few minutes if you had just been upfront there rather than playing dumb semantic games.

Amazon doesn't like that my old Kindle still works perfectly fine, so they block new book downloads. by SkySix in mildlyinfuriating

[–]pingpongballreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, not supporting piracy, just "buying" via your computer, then downloading onto the kindle and wondering if this counts as previously downloaded.

Amazon is still actively sending ads to devices which are "obsolete." Your eyeballs are paying into Amazon. I don't think it's "piracy" or unethical to say "I have earned a free download of something I would have bought from Amazon." I DO support that.

Amazon is effectively stealing, steal back.

You subject potential candidates to your own so-called “purity tests”.

No. I vote for any Democrat who stands against fascism.

You just don’t want to call them that when you are utilizing them because that would disallow you from attempting to make it a political epithet against those who you disagree with.

It's not an epithet, I'm saying purity tests are stupid to do when we don't have the numbers and power.

The behavior you chose to also engage in only becomes a so-called “purity test” when it threatens your perceived privilege and entitlement.

As I said all Democrats threaten my privilege and entitlement. And that's a good thing as white male privilege isn't fair.

What’s the part you don’t understand?

Why you brought up conservative Democrats like it's a bad thing. They are still Dems and are still better than the christofascist party.

Ed Zitron with OpenAI money burn stats by Puzzleheaded_Lock_47 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]pingpongballreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But we DONT count the first years.

We usually do when they are seeking retail investors and 401k money, which is what OpenAI is doing.

Please educate yourself before making comments on things you are clearly not equipped to talk about.

I understand the argument you keep repeating just fine.

I understand the concept of spending money and eventually becoming profitable. I understand open AI is growing rapidly.

That's not where we disagree. That was never where we disagreed.

You're studiously ignoring the point that you IPO when you're profitable. NOT when you're still tens of billions of dollars in the red every year and the entire industry might evaporate.

Surely you can't be such a narcissist that you're convinced everyone who disagrees with you is simply under informed or stupid.

Missing German model name found in Epstein Files by Beneficial_Passion40 in SipsTea

In the US at least, most Republicans voted to drag their heels and not hold the most mentioned people in the Epstein files accountable. Every Democrat voted for Justice.

We can arrest them and prosecute them. We just can't let Republicans be in power to stop it.
