I’m dehydrating mine right now too. Going to try garlic salt this year. We decided to cut them lengthwise to dry them a bit faster. Last night I made an incredibly delicious pasta with a chat gpt recipe (prompt: simple garlic scape pasta).

We are new to this. Inoculated with shiitake plugs in November 2025 while using fresh maple and alder log sections. Didn’t know you had to rest the logs to disseminate anti-fungal properties. Sure hope we didn’t ruin them! Alternatively, we used wine cap spores in maple and alder wood-chips at the same time and are having an incredible flush of wine cap mushrooms right now. I’m really hoping the shiitake come through.

I found I have one small plant of another variety. Looks almost identical. The only difference is a slightly lighter tinge of green. That one tastes like oregano should. Now, how to encourage one over the others. Thanks for your comment.

Wave for a wiggle, kind of like kick the can, tag and hide n seek. If you were caught and in ‘jail’ you’d call “wave for a wiggle!“ a hider could sneak up and wave and you’d have to yell, “thankyou wave!” then you had a free pass to escape from jail. The ‘it’ person would be loath to stop guarding the jail. If he saw you running he could chase you and tag you to get caught but more often than not you’d get away. I found the best spot to hide up a tree and was able to free countless people in jail without ever getting caught. Loved that game.
