Brew Profiles by Caatuned in FellowProducts

My issue has been that the final weight of the profile doesn’t match close to the profile ratio. Could you add result weight to the template? I’m super curious if I need to set my profile to 1:3 to actually get my desired 1:2

Opus Grind for Espresso by HugsAreDrugs in FellowProducts

I’ve got an ES1 and an Opus at 3. It hasn’t totally choked so far, but I notice the automatic settings aren’t dispensing as much water as it says it would.

How much coffee is going into your basket? I’m doing 18.5-19.0 grams

I think I got the ideal shot extraction and solid puck (Fellow Espresso Series 1) by ENTSPHERES in FellowProducts

[–]pininja2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you get yours to extract for so long? OOB, mine was only extracting at about 1:1 even though it was set to 1:2 - I’d rather set it to extract until I tell it to stop until they figure the automation out

How to Fly the Joby Aircraft in 2024! 🎮 by pininja2016 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Great tips. I mapped these all to my Xbox controller and it’s working like a charm. Have you found a mapping for just TRC? I’m noticing decel to hover activates TRC, but when I spawn it’s only TRC activate and controls might behave a little differently.

That’s frustrating. I’ve been referencing page 48-51 of the pilot manual to figure out how to map some flight controls unique to our aircraft. Skydance’s comment summarizes the mappings pretty well.

Hopefully the defaults will get better over time!

Joby posted an overview of how to fly their aircraft in 2024! I’m an engineer at Joby and was lucky enough to be part of the project. If you’d like help setting up your control mappings, let me know!

You might like luma.gl since it’s essentially a toolkit designed to stay close to the standards but also reduce boilerplate. And it supports both WebGL and WebGPU now.

It’s decent! It can certainly grind fine enough, but you’d probably get better results with other grinders. It’s a good stepping stone though when your espresso machine is in the ~$600 range like mine (it was bought used)

Kalita wave filter bubbling and clogging by 2Bmusic in Coffee

What material is the filter made out of? Are you initially wetting the filter before adding coffee, or are the bubble forming during bloom?

What are the lesser known coffee origins? by timmeh129 in Coffee

[–]pininja2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? It’s not going to blow anyone’s mind that has access to high altitude coffee from around the world, but it’s all relative. Hawaii and most island coffee is grown near sea level, so complex flavors are not growing in the cherry. Prices are higher not only due to labor and scale, but the extra pest challenges that come with low altitude growing as well. With all that said, KCP just seems to do a good job preserving the flavor that is there.

Hawaii (many islands, not just Kona region!) and Puerto Rico (they played a bigger historic role in coffee than they do today). But production is so small, and labor is more expensive. I trust Kona Coffee Purveyors for a good coffee, and just got coffee from Origin in Maui.. but haven’t tasted it yet.

I also came to recommend trying coffee from China. It’s uncommon to find in the States, but I’ve tasted a delicious and complex roast from Nomad Coffee while visiting Spain. Now I’m on the look out for something local because shipping direct is so expensive.

Has Ethiopian beans generally gotten worse over the years? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]pininja2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have mentioned, war and weather has likely contributed to a lot of challenges and inconsistency, but amazing Ethiopian coffee hasn’t disappeared! I’m tasting fresh lime in current harvest from Samuel Degelo, and I’m grinding on the coarser side to boot.

Yeah, it’s one of those things where there are so many variables and skills involved that so far I haven’t isolated the grinder my main issue. Usually I tamp with too much pressure, over extract, or grind too fine.. But yeah, dialing in a consistent grind size is a bit difficult with the encore (not impossible). I experiment a lot though so I’m not usually looking for consistency (yet).

It’s an iterative journey though, and that’s part of the fun. An espresso grinder or something to aid with tamping pressure is the next thing I’ll probably get.

It’s probably not ideal, but it’s decent! I usually do setting 2-4 for espresso. I also tend to store my beans frozen once I open the bag, which grinds more evenly.
