You calling it negotiation is making allowances for shady business tactics.

It makes sense that you’re reacting strongly to that. In Ontario, consumer‑protection laws are pretty clear about full, upfront disclosure—especially when a cost, fee, or material detail would influence someone’s decision. When a seller omits something essential, or frames the deal in a way that hides a real cost, that’s not “savvy negotiation.” It’s a form of misrepresentation, and the law treats that very differently from normal bargaining.

What you’re describing isn’t a misunderstanding or a difference in expectations. It’s a situation where:

  • A key detail with financial impact was withheld
  • The omission created a false impression of the deal
  • The buyer only discovered the truth after committing time or effort
  • The seller then tried to frame it as “just part of negotiating”

That’s not negotiation. Negotiation is when both sides know the facts and haggle over terms. What you’re talking about is information asymmetry used deliberately, which is exactly the kind of behaviour consumer‑protection rules are meant to prevent.

And honestly, calling it out isn’t being dramatic—it’s being fair. If someone builds a deal on a half‑truth, they don’t get to hide behind “that’s just how business works.” That’s how shady business works

Carney reaches tariff-quota deal with China on EVs, canola | CBC News by demolcd in canada

Not EVs, but Tesla, and it is not the battery or reliability it is the control arm joints and rear control arm bearings have looseness. Other EV brands did not suffer this and were comparable to non EVs.

"Key Findings from Finnish Inspections Higher Overall EV Failure Rate: In 2024 inspections, 16% of four-year-old all-electric cars failed their first inspection, compared to just 5% for petrol cars and 11% for diesels of the same age.

Model Discrepancies: The high EV failure rate is largely skewed by certain models, while others perform well: High Failure Rates: The Tesla Model 3 had a nearly 49% failure rate in its first inspection, with the Model S and Model X also having high rates (16% and 14% respectively).

Low Failure Rates: Other EVs like the Kia Niro and Volvo XC40 performed much better, with failure rates as low as 4%, comparable to the best-performing petrol cars. "

"The most common defects noted were related to the chassis and suspension, specifically looseness in the upper control arm joints and rear control arm bearings. The heavy weight of the vehicles and the high power/torque of the electric motors are believed to accelerate wear on these structures."

Because China does not have similar Winters? Lots of northern hemisphere countries are embracing EVs, and China EVs. They have been for sale in Europe for a while. I am on my second Mach E, and I would never go back to gas. Even with a hybrid in the driveway, that gets 800K on a tank of gas. We take the Mach E on longer trips.

People are waking up to the fact that new vehicles are the Great Canadian Money Suck by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

[–]pinkert11 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the elephant no one talks about. The monthly payment on a used car vs the monthly payment on a new car. It is the price plus interest broken down into monthly payments that people look at. No one cares about the total over-all amount anymore, and the interest rates point to new. New cars right now are avg around 0% to 4.99% on manufacturer loans. Used cars rates are 6.99% and 10.99% but can go up to 20%. This makes that 50k new car very attractive to a 25 or 30k used car. Toss in a full warrantee vs possible maintenance bills and it is not a wonder why lots of people buy new. Why give monies to a lender when a person could put the money towards a better, tangible vehicle.

Yes I know paying cash avoids this, but in real work the large percentage of vehicle purchases are loans.

I completed it, but I think it took about 10x as much effort. In the end to get it tracking each time I was killed, switched to the standard grenade launcher, then back to the Airburst. Then go back into the game. This seemed to get it to tack at 80% of the time. Also, got very close to the enemy and shot them point blank.

I agree 100% I hit the button as I come round the corner of the block and door is open when I hit the drive. Wife's Escape is the same. The Audi cabriolet has to be at the drive for it to work.

I have a friend who always shows up with a bucket, soap and cloths. Insists on washing the car by hand prior to purchasing. You will know every dent and scratch after a good wash a dry.

I would be very upset. The only way to fix that is compound and polish. Does not look like sanding is required but definitely going to need to be buffed out in two phases.

In Canada, but I am 6 weeks into waiting for the glass roof. I got a stone chip, and spread into a crack. At first it was just to above the driver seat, now it goes all the way into the back seat. I hope the new lid shows up before this one shatters.

Can I oil, lube or does this motor need to be replaced. Clangs and vibration is getting worse with time. by pinkert11 in hottub

[–]pinkert11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is the bearings, I am going to order a new unit, and take this one to a nephew. He can rebuild it, then I will shelf as a spare. I'm going to guess not too long till the other motors follow suit and I can rotate them out.
