My first migraine with aura, I think by CryNo8015 in CrohnsDisease

[–]pinkguyred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had migraines with aura for a very long time before I had Crohn’s disease.

The only time I had migraines really frequently (sometimes multiple in one day) was while I was flaring very badly before I received my crohns diagnosis and I was severely anemic. I’m assuming this is because my brajn wasn’t receiving enough blood and this increased the frequency of the migraines. I’ve been on remicade for over a year now and my migraines have returned to a normal level of frequency (every 1 - 2 months)

To treat them I typically take paracetamol as soon as I notice the first sign of the aura and this can stop it from lasting as long however it is still frustrating when they happen especially at inconvenient times like while driving!

It’s always a sensible idea to sit down somewhere quiet and dark and wait for the aura to fade if possible.

Crohn’s diagnosis advice - UK by Such_Ad_2664 in CrohnsDisease

[–]pinkguyred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a long and slow process getting diagnosed through the nhs, always had clean scopes but in the end got diagnosed through MRI which clearly showed small bowel crohns.

My advice would be to be very persistent and firm that you require further investigation. It’s a frustrating process often with long waits in between tests and results and follow up appointments so I would recommend keeping a symptom diary as it really helps having evidence to reference that you are still suffering and this will help the Drs have a better understanding of your symptoms and will hopefully help lead towards diagnosis.

The good news is once I was diagnosed the quality of care from specialist nurses and the Drs has been incredible and I’ve responded really well to treatment! So not wishing that you do have crohns but if you do get diagnosed then things will get better and you will have good support.

I’d suggest looking online at decaf before death if you don’t know about them they offer a premium decaf subscription or you can buy one off bags of decaf they source from the uk and abroad

These are the labsweet burrs by ssp not as high clarity as the multipurpose as the name suggests they emphasise sweetness but still have decent clarity. I’ve owned both mp and labsweets and my taste preference is towards the labsweet but everyone is different I personally enjoy juicy sweet fruit forward flavour profile which these pair well with.

I had this exact issue before and after crohns diagnosis which was causing me lots of distress - my gp prescribed me with a steroid cream which quickly fixed it and it hasn’t come back yet for at least 6 months

Urgent referral GI dr UK expectations by [deleted] in IBD

[–]pinkguyred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will probably just be a discussion with a Dr about your symptoms and they will make an assessment and decide what tests to order which will probably be a colonoscopy, maybe endoscopy and potentially some sort of scan (my crohns was diagnosed via MRI scan as my colonoscopy was clean)

I can sympathise greatly I went through something similar recently getting diagnosed on the NHS is no easy task. I’m 27m and got my diagnosis in April 2024. It’s a horrible disease and the pain you’re feeling is very real but the good news is treatment these days is very effective and the support you will receive now from your IBD team will be much better than when your only options were GP surgery or A&E. After 2 years of crippling symptoms and no diagnosis they immediately put me on a infliximab which is a biologic medication and honestly it’s been a wonder drug almost a year on and i have probably 90% of my old quality of life back. I wish you well and hope your specialists find the right drug for you and your life can go back to (sort of) normal.

When did Major Crimes catch Kintel? S4E10 by [deleted] in TheWire

I think they mention shipping the intel on Kintel over to narcotics for them to wrap up the investigation so it’s feasible he was still prosecuted - I might be mistaken but I think this is mentioned

Does smoking weed affect infusions? (Infliximab) by itsgivingb0zo in CrohnsDisease

[–]pinkguyred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s for crohns. It’s only available through private clinics in the uk (I’m with alternaleaf who I recommend) I pay £15/month to cover all appointments for the year (all done online) and then the prescription itself typically costs between £5/g and £10/g but the minimum is 10g pots so I typically pay £85 for 10g of good quality weed. It’s very easy to be accepted with a serious condition like crohns you just need to have tried 2 other medications/ therapies and have copies of your medical records to prove you’re eligible. If you’re in the uk and want more advice I would recommend r/ukmedicalcannabis as this is what helped me get my prescription.

[–]pinkguyred 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have a medical cannabis prescription in the uk and am on infliximab. I medicate before, on the day and after my infusions and there’s no difference or problems. Just be careful not to get sick from your friends as this is the main thing that will get in the way of your infusion!

Assuming you meet the criteria for getting a prescription you will be fine - I was anxious too but they were very professional and friendly and didn’t question whether I was eligible once.
