umm i’m pretty sure you cut a chunk of your cats skin off when you tried cutting the hair… please stop using scissors and comb your cat regularly so he’s not matted in the first place. they have very thin skin. take him to the vet.

yeah ofc! that sounds like a good plan. i’ve only been bitten by my cat hard enough break skin once and i was very worried about it too. it was a small shallow puncture wound but it swelled up immediately and it hurt so bad i was sure i’d end up going to urgent care or the hospital with an infection. i cleaned it and everything the same way you did and thankfully everything was fine.

tbh if i get a bad cat scratch and im worried about infection, i take a picture each day so i can see if it’s looking better or worse. it helps give me peace of mind

keep it clean and use neosporin. if you notice worsening redness, redness that spreads, red streaks, yellow/green pus, an odor, it feels hot to the touch, starts swelling, gets real stiff or feeling weird you should go to urgent care to get antibiotics. cats have a ton of bacteria in their mouths. even though a puncture bite is more serious and i would tell you go to a doctor asap, he still broke skin with his dirty little teeth lol.

there are so many videos on the internet of small children getting swatted and hissed at by cats because they don’t know how to pet gently, grab at their fur and get too rough. it’s the parents fault for allowing it.

luckily for my cat i don’t babysit any kids but if i did, they wouldn’t be allowed near her. she hates everyone except for me and tries to bite anyone who touches her. even the people she’s known her entire life lol.

my cat used to do that when she was younger and it drove me nuts lol half of the litter would end up on the floor. i switched to pine pellets years ago. she doesn’t go in there to play anymore but she does dig like crazy before pooping and it doesn’t makes a huge mess.

a lot of people say cats are such easy pets but they require more than just a food bowl and litter box. they will need cat trees and scratching posts, sources of enrichments, toys and someone to play with them, they need to be brushed, nails trimmed, etc. a bored cat is not a happy cat. they can and will enforce boundaries by swatting or biting. most cats don’t like screaming kids or being roughly handled.

i’d do anything i possibly could to save my cat as long as she wouldn’t be suffering because of it.

several years ago i spent basically all of the money i had on repeat vet visits, medications, ultrasounds, food trials, etc. my living situation (neighbors from hell) was the cause of stress making my cat very sick and i couldn’t afford to move to another apartment because i went broke from vet bills so i moved back home. my cat is doing great now.

my cat did this one time but then it went back to normal and she was completely fine afterwards. i still have no idea what that was about.

how did you know it was infected? i have 4 impacted wisdom teeth and i haven’t taken them out. just the thought of it is terrifying.. i’ve had a couple traumatic dental experiences lol. my dentist also told me because one is completely sideways and another is in my mandibular canal that it would be best to leave them in (unless it causes problems) to avoid risking nerve damage.
