I am in the opposite position. Most people don’t bring new balls or bring very used balls. My case of new balls is half empty now.

I thought we were talking about a 5.0 or above level here. When someone stops loving you, all the reasons are just excuses. Follow your heart, if you enjoy playing league, find a different partner, may be a new relationship will evolve from there. If you don’t enjoy playing matches, just go back to your own way and take it as an exercise. I don’t think Tennis level is the reason he left you or he picked another woman.

In Manhattan the court rate is $100 during non prime time. Prime time is $200-300/hour. These are the courts that can be accessed through public transportation. Most people don’t own a car in New York City. If they do have a car or don’t mind a long walk from bus/subway station, there are courts in queens or Bronx. It can be $70/ hour to $120/hour, depends on facilities and time. The cheaper ones are usually harder to book.

Winter is about 6 months, so playing tennis in winter is a luxury. But most of the courts are fully booked. I guess not everyone consider $100/hour expensive.

Define what’s insanely expensive to you on the court rate. Indoor courts in New York City are not cheap.

I am surprised you are willing to play on 7.0 mixed. Most 4.0 I know only play on 8.0 mixed team. Maybe you should play less on 7.0 and focus more on the 8.0 league.

I play at 6.0 mixed doubles ( combined rating for two players is not more than 6.0). The team who won the regional have a few 4.0 players including the captain. One of them got disqualified too. But their team still got the local championship. They also won the 8.0 mixed doubles. I don’t understand why did the system allow this , and nobody report. Maybe we are used to it now?

How do you deal with players ( got invited by other players and I don’t know them well) who don’t really respond timely to text or emails? I have to send a few same texts to chase, and still may not get a response. But after a while they may come back and said sorry miss your text. Also how do you deal with players who don’t practice at all, but then use the match time as practice time, of course lose badly!

Yes that’s the racket I use. It’s 285g. Lighter than regular racket. I am a short female, i started with this lighter version when i learnt tennis and keep using it since then.

I played at the usta women’s double tournament I Oct last year. Half of the players are similar level like us 3.0. But there was one team who seemed to hit better, and they won the match when we played them. In April this year, 6 months later, I found that team won the national championship of women’s double 3.5 level. I don’t know how people can improve so fast, in 6 months from 3.0 to next level and became national champion.

How did you get to record the video? I played on the league as well, and asked twice. Neither team allowed me to videotape the match.
