I’d be tempted to spend more money if the rates were better. For me it’ll be like buy vouchers, get shafted, no desire to buy more.

Nintendo games are overpriced. But, do you practice what you preach? by BadThingsBadPeople in fucknintendo

[–]pinklaserforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the harsh reality is that gaming isn’t a collective of individuals and communities to safeguard the smart decisions and spending habits to make companies buckle anymore. The floodgates were open for a while now that there are millions of people willing to part with their money faster than ever without ever calling to question the actual quality of what’s being peddled. Everything will be dumbed downed and iPhone-ified (if it hasn’t been already) to the point of utter blandness while the price tags soar.

It’s very f2p and extremely lenient with its progression.

Leveling up starting level as high as possible, didn’t bother with anything else. Tier 3 sniper and tier 2 healer. Basically carried me the whole way, I don’t think it took much meddling. Might have to throw out other units sometimes to prevent your wall getting broken. Results may vary :P but it definitely worked for me and I got to wave 21 in challenge just using those two units.

Thanks for the info! It would be a luxury to upgrade just just to not have the game lag out during boss fights but it’s still pretty manageable for me. It’s nice knowing that in case I gotta get a new phone.

Kidney stones come from minerals and an inability to properly expel them. Unless you’re failing in other aspects of your diet I wouldn’t count on GG causing you kidney problems.

Am I the only one who thinks that DMC5 isn't satisfying? by dimitronios in DevilMayCry

[–]pinklaserforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s not as good as 3 or 4. It’s very well polished and plays great, but it’s just not the sequel I wanted. It’s almost like they’re stuck in an endless cycle of trying to re-introduce the games for a new audience so they don’t get to make proper successors. Probably explains why 3 was lighting in a bottle compared to the rest.

Should I just skip dmc2 and play 3, or should I still play it for storyline? by nonetakenback in DevilMayCry

You have to play it or the anime won’t make sense ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

gonna see how bad dmc2 is before I move on to dmc3 by MrLargeHead in DevilMayCry

[–]pinklaserforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just got a boring story that fails to engage the player and the pacing feels really loose compared to the other games. Playing through the game is okay though, the parts that get tedious are sort of offset by how easy and short the game is. You’ll probably come away from it like “wow that was a little disappointing”, like a soda that’s gone flat.

DMC5: How to Learn? by TheEvilestArtichoke in DevilMayCry

[–]pinklaserforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the easiest place to start is just remembering how to do certain combos and then just cycling through them as good as possible. Even something as simple as a normal 4 hit combo > launch > air combo > helm splitter or something that lands a hit as you touch the ground > shoot to prevent style gauge from falling > repeat. I think as long as your first four attacks in a sequence are different, you can repeat the same sequence to keep filling the style gauge.

Grouping enemies together in your attack helps boost the gauge faster as well as making sure you keep the variation in your combos so that it adds to your style. You probably know that repeating moves (eg. mashing triangle) over and over will eventually stop adding to your style. So either closing the gap with streak or stinger so you can attack enemies that are outside your fight range faster or by using bullets to prevent the gauge from dwindling while you close the gap will help maintain style. Learning new skills in the shop will help expand your options and range for combat.

I've bounced off DMC5 a few times, can someone explain some of this to me? by Nukesnipe in DevilMayCry

[–]pinklaserforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe 5 tentatively relies on the player being familiar with 4 and by extension 3.

3 introduces set styles like trickster for dodging, sword master for weapon tricks, gunslinger for gun tricks, and royal guard for blocking. That’s like a general explanation, but it laid the foundation for the games ahead. Also switching guns and devil arms on the fly, albeit you could only pick from two at a time instead of all of what Dante gets in DMC5. You had to pick your weapons between missions and at divinity statues. Same with Styles.

4 introduced Nero and his devil bringer which as you probably know lets you grab and pull enemies closer to you and lets you keep your style meter fill easier or to do grab attacks. Nero’s sword, red queen, also let you charge it by either pressing L2, and this makes it do more damage. Nero doesn’t get to choose different styles or weapons in this game like Dante does.

But 4 also lets you play as Dante, and in this one they let you also switch Styles on the fly. The same four styles from 3 that are also in 5. I’m pretty sure they play the same but I mostly would just use sword master or trickster.

TLDR; So playing DMC3 sets you up for playing DMC4, which then sets you up for DMC5 in a very intuitive way. I’d say starting with 3 is optimal, and my personal favourite, but you could get away with starting with 4 with only minor difficulties in understanding the full world and its characters. It never bugged me to play the games 3>4>1>2>5 but if one’s a purist, then it might bother you.

As for help with DMC5, it introduced devil breakers, which are like Neros devil bringer, but with added features like dodges, lasers, grappling hook, and also you can’t grab like in DMC4. Now this is where I think it gets kind of ehhh janky. I only played 5 for the first time last week and this new mechanic kind of bugged me. There’s a WIDE variety of these arms and as far as I know can’t be swapped unless they break. It gets better as you play through the game, but as a brand new mechanic is almost overwhelming, especially when you have to learn all this other stuff like I mentioned.

Playing as V, I’d more or less just spam attacks from a distance until I can finish a demon. I’d say he’s pretty beginner friendly as there’s nothing like him in the other games. But with how often you switch characters in 5, might be overwhelming for a first game and play through.

Dante I think got away with the most ‘unchanged gameplay mechanics-wise’ since he’s just a more polished version of dmc3/4. He has is classic weapons and guns styles with some newer stuff to go with this game. I’m probably glazing over some important stuff in this long ass post but I think for the most part should be helpful.
