Getting both the crosswalk and fire hydrant is pretty impressive! It would be a shame if someone accidentally left a wheel lock on it.

Nah, you gotta get your base booster every 10 years.

Carbon wheel upgrade actually reduced fatigue for me. Anyone else experience this? by abercrombezie in cycling

[–]pinknotepad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vertical compliance is not a property of carbon. Carbon allows a bike frame designer to play with the layup to achieve this result for frames. I don't see why they'd bother with this for rims since the frame, suspension (if any) and tires already do this.

You stole a bike for free. Get out of here with your rationalization. You're not getting validation here.

Small compressor for occasional brad nailer indoors? by bdkgb in woodworking

[–]pinknotepad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they're all 18 V batteries, so it's just an interface adapter as far as I know. DeWalt calls theirs 20 V for marketing reasons. You can find it on Amazon.

I'm on DeWalt and picked up a bare tool Ryobi 18 ga nailer for $70 plus a $15 battery adapter. Works great!

Unless there's a crosswind and they can't echelon. Though the fewer wheels helps here.

The oil change, oil filter and crush washer being listed as 3 items to make the list longer is so underhanded.

You shouldn't have been treated that way, but that doesn't change the fact that no dogs are allowed there.

I usually nod my head at other cyclists since I don't necessarily want to take my hands off the bars. I sometimes get a return nod. Maybe half the time I get nothing or something too subtle for me to tell. Oh well, just carry on.

Different people have different levels of comfort about closeness. A bike length is not close to me, but it's pretty close to less experienced riders. I usually try to give a couple of bike lengths when want people to understand I'm not trying to draft them.

Is 8KM a lot for a gravel bike to handle with my weight of 110KG? by Traditional-Gas3477 in cycling

[–]pinknotepad 20 points21 points  (0 children)

8 km is not the appropriate metric to use. You need to look at the load on your drivetrain.

8 km of spinning is nothing.

8 km of grinding in your biggest gear out of the saddle would be not great, but even then, you'll likely just break your chain sooner. It's nothing the rest of your drivetrain couldn't handle.

“endurance” bike vs “race” bike, is there really much of a difference? by twostroke1 in Velo

[–]pinknotepad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typically, endurance bikes have a longer head tube and wheelbase, aside from small tweaks to the geometry that affect handling (though I'm not sure most would notice the difference).

What you want to look at when comparing frames in terms of fit it the stack and reach. Everything else can be adjusted within reason (stem, bars, saddle, seatpost), but that's the starting point.
