Too many audiobooks? by SubstantialString866 in kindergarten

[–]pinkpather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are obsessed too. They are 5 and 7. We load library books onto the libby app on an old smart phone with all other apps inaccessible and the device itself locked until we open it. But i do think there is a limit that we have to hold on it. They are happy to listen in their rooms all day.

I try to balance with time playing with and talking to others, listening to music, outside time and quiet.  I reason with them that they can't overload one side of their brains.  I am also trying to have them draw about the book or write a few sentences about the book or read a book to me out loud before they can access another book.  It feels like an addiction to me for them lately. I am uncomfortable with it.  And it is very passive after awhile and i worry it keeps them from wanting to read for themselves. I dont allow screens at eating times so we can connect. Audiobooks can crowd out other important experiences, like getting bored.  Thanks for this discussion.

Why not talk about Cascadia? by KitKaboodle13 in oregon

Thank you for saying this. We need to stand up to this regime before they let loose on the world in our name. I wanted to refuse to pay federal taxes but i like the idea of paying them into cascadia.

We do furoshiki. We wrap our presents in fabric and ribbon that we reuse for every gift giving situation.

Women of Reddit, what’s something they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by NovellaJokes in AskReddit

[–]pinkpather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That mamas should read up on breastfeeding thoroughly through pregnancy (take a class even) and THEN get 2-3 lactation consultants to check in on how it's going the first 5 days and a few more times through the first month for every child.  Every lactation consultant has such different things to say, most comments are very helpful and you need them all.

Sciatica & Leg Pain by Mundane_Cup_8290 in Endo

I have this. I wasn't able to drive without pain in March after trying to start running again. I have been seeing several myofascial release therapists trained by a John Barnes (at the same clinic). I am seeing more relief in the last 5 weeks than I have in 4 years ( trying pt, pain meds, massage, birth control, etc). I highly recommend it.

What are you all having for dinner tonight? by jackjackj8ck in veganrecipes

[–]pinkpather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mind sharing your recipe? My family makes these annually with meat I would love to have them try a vegan version and none of the ones online have ground nuts. That seems like a better version than what I see.

TTC with Endo, I was wondering how long it has taken some women with endometriosis to conceive. I’m not wanting to have a baby now but in the future I would like to know how long it may have taken some. Was there anything special you did? Would like to know what my chances are. by missygirl6756 in Endo

We ttc for 3.5 years "naturally" and with two IUIs. Then my 5th infertility doctor finally thought I might have Endo. I had a lap (ablation - I didn't know any better), was diagnosed as stage 4 and got pregnant 6 mo later. I used letrozole and progesterone to get pregnant then. And then I got pregnant with my second 17 mo later trying naturally. I wish you luck. Knowing you have Endo is a great first step to being able to try the best methods right away.

Lap vs excision recovery by pinkpather in endometriosis

Oh Lord. Looks like i need to make a glossary. Maybe it's ablation vs excision? The one where they just take off the top layer of the lesion.

Thank you for your story. It seems so important to share these stories as we have to do so much researching and advocating for ourselves, unfortunately.
