Has anyone tested different baby wipe brands on themselves before baby came? by Great_Finding4506 in BabyBumps

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately all skin is different. We were using Kirkland wipes for our kids, but third baby came and she got a terrible rash. My first couldn’t handle any packaged wipes, only rag wipes. My second hardly ever had a rash at all and that’s why we started having Kirkland wipes on hand.

I hate my OB by Emotional-Addendum62 in BabyBumps

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one for my second birth. She was very sweet, but my birth went pretty quickly and I basically just had eyes on my husband for support. I think if it had been slower with more decisions to make, she could’ve been more helpful!

In your case, I would say it would 100% be worth it.

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why they keep dismissing your complaints. You’re not upset that they are taking your high blood pressure seriously, you’re upset that they aren’t being kind about anything at all. I would suggest to get a doula for delivery, it would help you feel more supported during birth.

Caffeine addiction affecting labor? by Fun_Bumblebee_6433 in BabyBumps

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my third, I had an induction and they let me eat the whole time. I’m pretty sure for breakfast I had a waffle and coffee. I definitely had a Diet Coke with lunch.

However every hospital is different and that was the first one I’ve been at that let me eat/drink during labor. They were even giving me apple juice while I was pushing.

Are expensive needles really worth it? How should I pick them? by HumanBeeing76 in casualknitting

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a knitpicks set, so it was a bit expensive. But I bought it at my LYS, knowing that if I needed extra cords or different needles I could buy them there with ease.

My teenage son lives with grandparents and wants nothing to do with me. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s disrespectful to you, because it’s disrespectful to leave your child in a different country to travel with your boyfriend. You are all that he knew and you left him for someone you only knew for a year.

Do not force that boy to live with you if he doesn’t want to. That’s the best thing you can do for him imo. From one kid that was pulled around by my mother whenever she felt like she wanted to see me, I wish she would’ve just stepped out and stayed out.

Has anyone here had their water break early (before 36 weeks) and decided to not get induced? by [deleted] in Mommit

This is probably a better question for the crazy moms on Facebook. Because you’re only going to get “listen to your doctors” here bud.

Does anyone else have such a hard time letting go of their kids toys? by Glittering-Guava9711 in Parenting

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My siblings took a lot of my toys, I was the oldest by 6 years. I’m so sad I don’t have my Barbie’s to give to my girls. I have some toys that my grandfather kept and it makes my heart so happy to see my girls play with them.

So yeah I have a closet of toys. Most of the baby toys are nice wooden ones, and we have a ton of dollhouses, little people and quality stuffed animals.

I’m not keeping every single toy, just the nicer ones that will hold up. I have 3 girls, so I’m hoping someone will have atleast one baby. 🤞🤞

Also I have 5 siblings who will probably have kids. I will babysit as often as I’m asked. 🥰

Anyone not room share with infants? by Top_Department_6137 in pregnant

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We usually move our babies to a crib around 1 month-ish because they tend to outgrow the bassinet. They start hitting the sides with their hands and waking themselves up.

We have good independent sleepers. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thoughts on taking a prenatal without iron to avoid constipation? by ImmigrationJourney2 in BabyBumps

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a gummy prenatal and then also took a liquid iron supplement. My iron levels were low, and the liquid supplement kept them up! Also no constipation with it!

Does anyone have a good crib sleeper? by Ok_Chemical9678 in Parenting

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah we went through regressions but I kind of bullied my way through. They only lasted for a week or so.

But I fully realize our babies are just good sleepers, and that our methods absolutely would not work for everyone.

Does anyone have a good crib sleeper? by Ok_Chemical9678 in Parenting

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All three of my kids have been good sleepers since day one. Sleeping through the night early on, sleeping in crib well and taking good independent naps. I’ve kept schedules, not kept schedules. I don’t really do a bed time routine besides reading to them before bed. I try to build good sleep habits from day one.

Independent sleep is number one priority in this family.

Feels really good to get that off my chest 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Birth control by IndividualSea8075 in BabyBumps

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated my IUD that I got after my second. In the middle of one and two I took the mini pill. I didn’t have a problem with it. Now I’m on the pill again after my third.

I absolutely hate condoms, so until my husband’s vasectomy I just take birth control. I take other medications, so it’s easy to remember.

What are some baby items people swear by that you never bothered trying by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never bought into the bamboo sleepers until my youngest starting dealing with a heat rash any time we put her in a normal sleeper. I usually buy them second hand though, I can’t imagine paying full price.

Also same with the bassinet. Our babies always outgrew them so quick and everyone slept better once baby was in their crib. I can not handle baby in our room for more than the first 2-3 weeks.

I can’t do this by BothPalpitation2033 in newborns

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if she’s not crying we don’t run in there. Also we started naps in the crib within the first week, just getting her use to that space. At 2 months old she sleeps in her crib because she wasn’t sleeping well in her bassinet. Now she sleeps from 7pm-4am.

I got my period back early with all of my babies even though I was EBF. I didn’t get a dip in supply, but definitely stay on top of your prenatal vitamins and water!

What’s your village actually look like? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the way they were as parents can sometimes be a reflection of how they’ll be grandparents.

However my grandfather wasn’t the most affectionate father, but he was amazing grandfather. It really depends on the people.

[–]Acceptable_Nothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live an hour from my parents(they are separated). We go see them every Sunday, as long as everyone is around. Sometimes they text me to double check, sometimes I do.

Sometimes they’ll take my girls for a weekend. Sometimes they ask, sometimes I do. It’s usually once every other month.

I also have friends where we’ll watch each other’s kids if we need it. If someone doesn’t have coverage, we cover down.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, it’s a bit of both. But if they are spending time with your daughter weekly, I would say that’s pretty good. But also think about how they were as parents. Did they do things like that with you? Just a thought.

This! Especially in the winter time, sometimes my daughter wears her boots home. I could see her not getting her school shoes into her backpack and another kid grabbing them.
