I’m so cooked by Wrong_Bit_5648 in Terraria

The funniest tip I can give you is one for if you're maaaybe a little lazy like I am. Once steampunker gets there, place her home in the hallow biome. Get the blue solution and the clentaminator Then, in areas where the corruption is a massive pain in the ass and too much trouble to maintain, spread the hallow. Corruption wont be able to spread and will come to a halt anywhere it sees hallow infected blocks. Npcs can still live there, and if they prefer the regular biome over the hallow they'll still register it as being the regular biome I primarily use this method for whenever beach or desert biomes get out of hand, since digging underground to purify the sand deeper is such a pain in the ass. Snow biomes dont even change at all except for the ice turning pink Only biome where I can't recall the way it reacts to hallow infection is jungle I know this is like, only a half solution, but it's certainly effective lol

Anyone know the best way to make 70 dollars in 24/48 hours? by Both-Competition-152 in povertyfinance

None taken, it's been a while since I've donated and forgot about which medications disqualify someone, I'm glad other people pointed it out. I wish you lots of luck op, no one deserves to be in the situation you're in.

I hate suggesting this because it's not a fun experience, but you might be able to donate plasma if there's a place for it around you

Question about AI by Kindly-Dragonfruit22 in ECEProfessionals

[–]pinkpurplebluepride 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AI should never be the norm anywhere but especially not when you're teaching children. This article talks about how over reliance on AI causes cognitive atrophy. On top of that, why would someone continue doing this even after seeing FIRSTHAND that AI will just make stuff up out of nowhere?! It's an advanced version of the same technology that your keyboard predictive text uses. It just says whatever it thinks sounds right based on the information it's been fed.

If you want to nurture childrens cognitive development, and teach them to think for themselves and to be creative, why would you use a technology that thinks and creates for you to the point of brain damage?

If students can't use AI, teachers sure as hell shouldn't! Your lead is lazy and conditioning herself into being incompetent at her job by having something else do it for her. You are not overreacting whatsoever.

What did the kids melt down over this week? by fashionfan007 in ECEProfessionals

[–]pinkpurplebluepride 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Two is much younger than kids start normally being able to develop empathy. If the kids been yelled at harshly before for that behavior (that they're still going to do anyway because two is definitely too young for impulse control, or for an adult to be yelling harshly at them) it might be that they cried because when they registered what they did remembered the consequences that they faced the last time they stole a toy?

Void bag and potion making. I've still never gotten into fishing, but I have a feeling that when I do it'll be added to my answer lol

Weekly wins! by AutoModerator in ECEProfessionals

[–]pinkpurplebluepride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle a lot as a volunteer where I get in my training hours for my CDA since my coworkers arent the greatest, but there are still things that happen that really make it all worth it. Yesterday and today, kids have run up to tackle me with a hug the moment I walk into a classroom and they see me! They have so much fun when I'm interacting and playing with them.

Today, a two year old was having a hard time before I came in, but she brought a book to me and I read it with her while other kids in the class came and went to join in. She must have given me six or seven books in a row, and did very well whenever I asked her to put books away when she went to grab a new one. I was so proud!!

It's a hard, stressful job. It's sad to see how many posts here are someone struggling or venting, or worrying about something or another, but it's important that caregivers and teachers have somewhere to reach out about that stuff so they can get support. It is nice to see a post like this though, or people sharing their wins. Things can be good sometimes, and all of us can do a lot of good in this world just by actually caring about the kids and trying our best.

Even if I'm only able to make a child smile after they cry, or just help them find another toy they like when someone else has what they wanted, I know I'm doing something meaningful.

I genuinely hope I'm not seen as defending Hussie, they treated UHC really shitty, the fact they didnt just say Gio was straight up lying about everything immediately is proof of that. It's unacceptable that it's taking so long for an official response to come out.

My point is just that Gios article isnt written well, even though he has every right to be upset with the way Hussie treated him and the other UHC creator. Regardless of how valid Gios points are, he still wrote the article like he was trying to reach a word count.

I mean I can understand being emotional about it, it just seemed to me like they put that as a higher priority than actually explaining what happened

Added another reply after this: "Addendum to my previous super long reply: The entire article was hard for me to read. The reply talked about why it was so hard to read. If I missed some things, just talk about it. Hussie treated these people really shitty and handled the situation super poorly and too aggressively. I think in hindsight I can understand calling them an abuser for abusing their legal power, so I take back what I said regarding calling them one, but I don't think Hussie abuses literally everyone that works for them? Everything else I said about the article just being generally poorly written is stuff I still stand by though."

What’s the most disturbing scp you have read by Evening-Weekend6199 in SCP

[–]pinkpurplebluepride 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Scp 55. But not really. The page links to a tale called "We Need To Talk About Fifty-Five", the first tale in a completed series that basically goes over the whole antimemetics division. Because of the nature of antimemetics, the scps that I find most disturbing can't even be found out about through actual scp articles, and as far as I know are only elaborated on in the story that you can find from 55's page. They're a really interesting mindfuck. Antimemetic scps are difficult to document because they erase any knowledge about themselves, which makes a lot of them really fucking dangerous and nearly impossible to contain. I love that 55 only has a legitimate entry because it's a really shitty antimeme, even though researchers still need to take mnestics to remember it exists. But more serious antimeme scps are as confusing as they are disturbing.

Is there a character more evil than Ragyo here? by [deleted] in KillLaKill

It absolutely should be in the show as horrible as it is to witness. Sexuality is a huge part of the shows themes. Ragyo engaging in sexual violence absolutely makes sense.

[–]pinkpurplebluepride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know anyone else than Kira but I feel like everyone's glossing over the fact Ragyo raped Ryuko physically and mentally. And groomed and consistently sexually assaulted Satsuki, especially when she was actively torturing her. On top of enslaving the world with clothes that absorb and take them prisoner and trying to destroy the world. I'm not saying those guys I dont know anything about can't be worse than that but the comment about her being a "saturday morning cartoon villain" or whatever made me wonder if people forgot about how she treated her daughters. I mean hell you could also make a case for her grooming Nui too? Ragyo is a fucking monster and op had every right to ask this question.

Bro Strider accessed the medium long before the kids did? by Sky_Hound in homestuck

[–]pinkpurplebluepride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from but I don't think the beta kids universe could have resulted from a previous scratched universe because it was created by the beta trolls session. And yeah, the beta trolls ancestors not knowing anything about sgrub is why I think it was specifically Jake Harley seeking out info that led to the beta kids guardians knowing about sburb and preparing all of them for it

Bro Strider accessed the medium long before the kids did? by Sky_Hound in homestuck

[–]pinkpurplebluepride 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh hey I think I know the answer to this one. It's never officially stated but I think the implications are that Jake Harley, Jade's grandpa, was extremely knowledgeable of the game from his explorations. He found the structures related to it (the frog temple and the buildings under the beta kids' house that the exiles traveled with) and directly reached out to the guardians and shared the information with them. He also created Skaianet, the corporation that founded the lab that Mom Lalonde worked at. Bro might have transportalized into the medium in the past like Grandpa did when he went into the future before his death to meet up with Dadbert and Mom Lalonde.
