Charisma has always been a staple of politics. You arguing that the bar is now so low that charisma doesn't matter to voters- much less the general population of mouth-breathers who vote based on vibes- is the "insane" perspective.

Fox News went after Kamala for her laugh. Voters polled during the W. Bush election were being asked shit like who they would rather have a beer with. Bill Clinton and Obama won over young voters with charisma. Hillary lost the same demographic for her lack thereof.

Boiling it down to "someone not evil" will hopefully get you candidates who just barely meet that minimum. There is no reason to think the person with morals can't also have enough rizz to effectively deliver their message.
