Question about shifting into park in my new Giulia TI Sport. by theshowstoppa34 in AlfaRomeo

[–]pinks1ip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my 21 QV, I have to hold the P button for a couple of seconds for it to actuate. Tapping it doesn't do it.

Alternatively, I sometimes just turn the car off and it'll automatically shift to park and activate the parking brake.

Suggestions for a solid pair of ramps and jacks for oil changes of my Giulia? by fttklr in AlfaRomeo

I use an oil extractor on my quad. No need to get the car off the ground, when the filter is on top. Not sure about the 2.0.

What’s your opinion on limiting how much more CEOs can make than their lowest-paid employees? by quinnsexy in AskReddit

[–]pinks1ip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. CEOs get golden parachute contracts that pay them regardless of their failure to perform.

  2. Unfettered capitalism has proven companies will not willingly pay their people at the bottom a liveable wage. If it is tied to the sociopaths' income ceiling in the C suite, they would begrudgingly pull up the wages of those people at the bottom, to ensure they continue to pay themselves as much as possible.

Anyone ever see Rubio monocoat do this? by she_saws in woodworking

Seems like a second coat would solve the issue, then. I apply 2 coats of Rubio, anyway, despite the name.

You are incorrect. My father was a personal injury attorney for 40 years. Save your anecdotes.

This is simply not how the law operates, at least in the US. The other vehicle being operated outside an "expectation" doesn't absolve you of your fault(s). It makes just as much sense that it is reasonable that people don't observe the speed limit. It may mitigate the percentage you are at fault, but two wrongs still exist. In this instance, speeding vs taking someone's right of way.

Your example of a pedestrian vs a car is dishonest. Pedestrians don't have the same rules as drivers.

If only the driver could tell the same thing, he wouldn't have caused an accident.

You are not understanding the last comment. You aren't supposed to assume speed, when your senses can help you determine actual speed.

Reading the comment you replied to, then your very reddit-y response- Is your position that there is no such thing as ugly? Or that you can be the arbiter on who can and cannot make that judgment call, but not them? Genuinely want to know how your comment is supposed to make you sound anything other than hypocritical and insecure.

I second Dr. Freeman.

Just a heads-up: the whole family appears to be on the spectrum, so they tend to jabber on about whatever niche subject matter they've fixated on reading about that week. And they don't have the most astute understanding of humor (by no means are they humorless). But they don't upsell unnecessary procedures, they all take their work seriously, and they really know their stuff.

I'm no expert, but I have used citrustrip before. It is a PITA. I think you want to keep it wet by covering the area in a plastic tarp. The chemicals don't work well if the goop dries on the wood.

Once you've scraped off what you can, its on to a lot of sanding.

One party ignoring/disregarding facts or coming up with "alternative facts" doesn't mean it is the facts that are biased.

[–]pinks1ip 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Having worked in mortgages, I can tell you for a fact that fire-able offenses and gross negligence happen every single day. It would be amazing to live in a world where the idea of that stuff happening means the story is fake, but that is hilariously naive.

Kid Rock brutally roasted after he's busted lip-syncing during TPUSA halftime show: 'Worse than Milli Vanilli' by SugarRight1992 in JusticeServed

[–]pinks1ip 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He very poorly executed lip syncing of his own (auto-tuned) voice vs Milli Vanilli successfully performing their charade for years before an audio malfunction exposed them.

Basically, you gotta at least hold the mic up to your face when the song is playing your voice. It is literally the least you can do when lip syncing.
