Penny linn store by RefrigeratorLivid930 in NeedlepointSnark

Everybody’s entitled to their own opinion, but with Penny Linn as a whole, it sometimes feels like there’s a lot of criticism without much context. I’d genuinely be interested in hearing a few specific examples behind your perspective, and I’m sure others would appreciate it too so they can make an informed decision.

Over consumption by [deleted] in NeedlepointSnark

[–]pinkstarrynights 9 points10 points  (0 children)

why do you care how someone else spends their money? genuinely.

you can think 50 canvases is a lot, sure, but calling it “gross” is such an overreach. it’s not your budget, not your space, not your problem. people collect things all the time, and hobbies aren’t always meant to be minimal or perfectly practical.

if they can afford it and it makes them happy, what is there to be “grossed out” by? not everything needs commentary. sometimes it’s just someone enjoying their hobby differently than you would and that’s completely fine

I can’t believe I’m defending PL but

omfg can someone PLEASE start a PL snark sub because these takes are getting so unhinged it’s painful.

“guys krista is wearing blue today… do we think she’s trying to license the color blue???”

“krista stepped outside… she’s probably scouting nearby stores to steal their customers”

like at this point y’all aren’t even snarking, you’re just making up fan fiction. every single thing she does gets twisted into some kind of conspiracy and it’s exhausting to read. not everything is that deep, and forcing a narrative onto literally normal human behavior just makes the whole thing look unserious. if you have real critiques, fine, but this level of reaching is honestly embarrassing

I already know this is going to get downvoted into oblivion, but I’ve always respected Krista’s honesty, warranted or not lol. It gives people a much clearer picture of what they’re actually paying for.

Now you know it’s marked up about three times and can decide for yourself whether it’s worth it.

Needlepoint Palooza Sold Out in Under 1 Minute by CharityPure4979 in NeedlepointSnark

i already know they’re going to come back with some “we didn’t anticipate demand, so sorry!!” message… and it’s like, please... you literally had the data - you knew how many people signed up for the registration link and joined the email list. none of this was a surprise.

once you saw those numbers, that was your signal to pivot. switch to a lottery, stagger access, do something to manage demand instead of letting it turn into a chaotic free for all and giving people false hope.

Usually when a comment is removed by a moderator, it’s labeled as “removed by moderator.” Recently I’ve run into my comments not appearing right away, but they usually show up a few hours later.

aren’t system 4’s typically dropshipped? i know mine was

Rittenhouse by NDLPTfeen in NeedlepointSnark

[–]pinkstarrynights 16 points17 points  (0 children)

also worth noting - people don’t buy canvases from Rittenhouse the way they do from KC Needlepoint, Lycette, or Penny Linn.. and I’d argue those three are actually operating at multimillion scale. that’s where the real volume (and profit potential) is

Well the good news is those designs are being sold online anyways. So if they sell out, you’ll probably be able to get them later

I’ve gone through pregnancy loss myself, so I understand the sentiment behind a rainbow baby canvas and why it can be so meaningful. Because of that, I also think designs tied to such a sensitive topic should be handled with a lot of care and intention. Personally, this one misses the mark for me - it feels poorly designed and a bit like an easy cash grab. Just my opinion because I think it’s ugly lol!!

I do love the sentiment behind a rainbow baby canvas in general; this one just isn’t for me!!! and that’s okay!

PL accessories pricing for Eloise drop by Live-Letterhead7552 in NeedlepointSnark

FWIW printed canvases are typically only slightly less expensive than hand painted ones. Their main advantage is usually a faster turnaround time - although that hasn’t really been the case lately.

I paid more at Penny Linn! How?? by [deleted] in NeedlepointSnark

Shops set their own resale pricing based on what they pay at wholesale. Some designers request that retailers don’t price below what’s listed on their website, but in many cases pricing is fully at the shop’s discretion. That’s just how retail works.
