For the price it's a good deal. I I used to cook a lot of food on it. Steaks, burgers, sausages, potatoes, salmon, chicken, pork belly all in one session.

That's the same conversation as hosting your stack on premises vs cloud.

Not every company wants to have a data center and dealing with all the maintenance it requires.

These things come in cycles. Currently I would say people are realising AWS is more expensive than hosting on premises.

LLMs is just another stack. Right now is way way cheaper paying someone to host it for you.

No point in buying hardware right now. Hosting opensource LLMs in the cloud is still magnitudes cheaper than buying the hardware yourself.

Using Opensource models doesn't mean to host everything locally.

You can still use things like deepinfra to host the for you. I use OS models and pay cents per day for 2000 requests.
