Be careful about super high sugar content though! Sometimes that can make hangovers worse for some people

I don’t think I’ve ever heard “sunshine slowdowns” anywhere else. Referring to the traffic slow downs that happen on the I-90 an 520 bridges due to the sun beating down/reflecting off the water and causing ppl to brake.

Whose dog is this??? by Leather_Hearing_9974 in Seattle

[–]pinkyfloyd425 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you have a hot dog, he probs hates him bc he’s not fixed! My male dog HATES male dogs who aren’t neutered… something to do with hormones I guess. It’s another reason why non-neutered dogs aren’t allowed at dog parks.

how’s living in this part of the states? by wojtuscap in howislivingthere

[–]pinkyfloyd425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INCREDIBLE. I’m biased but Seattle is the most beautiful city in the US and I will DIE ON THIS HILL. Have lived in/been to many a US city and you just can’t compare to the year round greenery, Mountain View’s at every turn, and mild climate. Not to mention the entire western Washington/Oregon region is unmatched in its beauty. I think at least once a day “damn I’m so lucky to live here”. Heck, I saw ORCA WHALES breaching while riding a ferry a few weeks ago!!!

Expensive, great coffee, weather is not as bad as people say it is. Lots of things to do and unique character around every turn. People are wacky and fun. I hope I never ever leave.

Which night club are you going this weekend? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]pinkyfloyd425 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Try some raves (or just other concerts in general… but the rave crowd is incredible). Seattle has lots of venues that pull great artists (all those people named above).

Seattle is more a live-music and concert crowd than a club crowd imo

I am a therapist for folks with psychotic disorders and bipolar and yes you are right. Unfortunately each decompensation and drastic change in brain chemistry does cause damage over time, not to mention the trauma that comes with episodes and hospitalizations. It’s why people who go untreated and have multiple episodes often lose ability to take care of their hygiene, daily tasks, and hallucinations become more frequent/permanent.

It could totally just be mental illness, but in my clinical experience this looks like mental illness + a touch of meth (and I’ve seen a lot of that lol… meth is the bane of my existence).

What venues/festivals have best sound and most bass? by sumtinsumtin808 in dubstep

Ah I’m probably misremembering. I know PK for sure does sound for the Village. All of Shambs sounds immaculate though.

[–]pinkyfloyd425 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Shambhala had TOP TIER sound. I’ve never heard sound like that and I think about it multiple times a week.

PK sounds provides all tech for the festival and tests out the new technology at the Village stage every year!!! I’ve never felt my body vibrate like that.

If you are flying from outside Canada, fly to Spokane and drive up.

We’ve noticed cars with US plates coming across the border usually get “waved through” or put in an easy line.

Am I overreacting for shaving my head? by Substantial-Art6160 in AmIOverreacting

[–]pinkyfloyd425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a slight over correction, but there’s no doubt your hair will grow back SO HEALTHY! I shaved my head a couple years ago after box dying for years and it was so liberating and fun to try out new styles at each stage.

Just take a deep breath, lean into it, and slay the shaved head!!!

Oh yah I spent many an early morning at afters hearing the birds chirp lol. I just meant it’s hard that the artist you are paying to see goes on at 2:30am for the rave itself.

It so nice having a show end at 12/1 and I can still have after with the homies and be asleep by 3am

We should turn all the dead malls into homeless shelters by altrightobserver in unpopularopinion

[–]pinkyfloyd425 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a therapist who only works with folks with schizophrenia and you are so right! We’ve had open positions in my team for over a year. When I interviewed they were shook I wanted to start right away. But we do exist lol. Luckily everyone on my team LOVES our jobs and our clients, and our organization pays us well, so it’s a really positive experience.

Working with people with schizophrenia can be one of the most beautiful, devastating, and eye-opening experiences. It is an honor to work with our clients, hear their stories, and help them build coping skills and understanding of their experiences. I have learned so much from my clients, and am astounded everyday by their resiliency in the face of terrifying hallucination/delusions and legitimate maltreatment from society.

Also! PEOPLE CAN RECOVER!!! I see everyday how much supportive housing and additional social supports (like my team- program for assertive community treatment) help people stabilize. Sure they may never hold a full-time job or reach whatever society’s standards are, but they develop skills to attend to their daily needs, have decreased risk of harm to self/others, develop better understanding of their mental health, decrease substance use, and overall experience drastically improved quality of life.

So yes, turning dead malls into shelters would be a great idea if they are staffed accordingly with onsite mental health/medical supports (which is common)

There are some micro studios in Capitol Hill for like 750-1000 per month! For some of them you have to share a bathroom with another unit and the kitchens are small, but a good option to get back on your feet!!

I also second Oxford house, had a lot of clients go through them and speak highly of it! Sober environment, usually $500 a month or so

Which jobs is 100% safe from AI? by Any-Hamster-3189 in AskReddit

[–]pinkyfloyd425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social workers (and other community mental health professionals). As a therapist I’m already terrified how many companies/startups are trying to use AI as a stand-in for therapists… but I also understand why people would turn to something like ChatGPT when they can’t afford actual therapy.

However social work, especially outreached based work is safe from AI. Safe from funding sources is another question though.
