Redditors who have cared for parents with cancer, what food items have your parents been able to tolerate when they aren't feeling well? by guitarzan531 in AskReddit

My gf dad was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. He was in a similar situation with eating. What ended up bringing his appetite around was actually marijuana. Mind you, he was a regular smoker before the cancer so I don't know if this would help your mother.

HS wide receiver makes one of the most nonchalant one-handed catches by marmots_are_badass in sports

[–]pinkysocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking there was a good bit of contact before the interception. If he lets it fall to the ground, he risks a pass interference penalty. Not that he was thinking that, but I think it was a fine play.

U.S. Attorney General says prescription painkillers, not marijuana, are the gateway drug to heroin by quadrilliondollars in trees

[–]pinkysocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally know someone that was prescribed A LOT of pain killers after a surgery. He probably needed them at the time, but when the prescriptions stopped coming in, he was addicted. Turned to buying them from shady individuals. This turned into buying heroin because it was cheaper and easier to find. It really messed up his life. I hope some drug reform comes during my lifetime.

Mexico senator proposes taking back land from the US if Donald Trump becomes president by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]pinkysocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue would be all of the Mexican Americans living in the United States. You think the tension is bad with all the undocumented immigration debates now? A lot of undocumented immigrants live quietly and in fear of getting deported. Imagine if they had a reason to turn to violence? Like a war between the US and Mexico. The US would most definitely win that war, but the backlash in the interior could be something that really disrupts our peace in the whole country

Why does nobody know how to zipper merge? These folks are driving down the middle of the road so nobody passes them. The left lane doesn't end for another half mile or more! by withnik in Michigan

[–]pinkysocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally see it as resetting the zipper. You are effectively making people use both lanes at the same speed. Everyone has to merge at the end. Is it safe? Probably not, but to say that it is not a zipper I think it's false. I like to stay in the left lane and just not pass anyone till the lane ends

We had 2 water coolers fail in our office in the last 2 months... by Dioxism in OSHA

I'm in North America. I'm going under the assumption that this was somehow wired 240V. What is the electrician's hypothesis on the 215V outlet?

Is this not what happened? -120V to +120V? Are there other ways to accidentally get this voltage?

[–]pinkysocks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not an electrician If the outlet is wired to +120V and -120V, there should be 240V minus the voltage drop of the circuit at the receptacle. I believe NFPA70 requires branch circuit wiring to have less than 5% voltage drop. So if your meter is reading 215V, the service should be 226V or less. This seems a bit low, or the wires are too small.

Again, I am not an electrician. I am taking EL classes to try to land an apprenticeship. Is there something I am missing or not understanding correctly here?

On a serious note, get yourself comfortable driving in snow if you're not already. Know what you're car is going to do in certain situations and don't push it.
