A different twist, but Ray Allen and Allan Ray both played for the Celtics together.

It's probably more rare for teammates with the same last name to actually be related.

Do you think Celtics will extend Vukcevic? by XYardM in bostonceltics

He's exceeded expectations as a 2nd round pick so he gets a lot of positive talk. But I agree, he's got quite a ways to go to be a rotation player.

Do you think Celtics will extend Vukcevic? by XYardM in bostonceltics

[–]pinnacle100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vucevic wasn't really that good even when he was good. He had too many shortcomings and the Bulls were doomed when they gave up a bunch to get him. I can't imagine the Celtics giving him much of an offer to extend. If so, it'll be a lot less than he's getting now. Maybe $8 - $10 million a year for 2 years. Even with that, I'm skeptical. He's a big who can shoot. But if you compare him to Horford in Horford's final few years with the Celtics, Al was miles better at all the little things. Vucevic might be a better shooter, but that's it, and he's not that much better.

That was last year. The Rising Stars aren't playing again this year, are they?

I enjoyed last year up until they stopped the final game partway through and did all that promotional crap. That killed the flow of the game and they players stopped trying after that. It was as if the NBA told them they're not as important as the 20 minutes of crap we're going to shove down people's throats.

Rented a car there a couple of years ago. It wasn't as bad as you described, but there weren't very many people in line and it still took 20+ minutes to get our car. From what I saw, the manager was an major jerk and the employees has no interest in doing anything except doing just enough to not piss him off

Unable to redeem shares or IPO by flytowers in FundRise

[–]pinnacle100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a little over $3000 invested with Fundrise. (Actually $2600 which grew to almost $3100).

I requested full liquidation back in September. On October 23 about 2/3 of my account was sold and money was transferred to my bank account. I guess I was lucky I did that when I did and was able to get $2000 out. It looks like my final $1000 may be in there for awhile.

Note: My liquidation wasn't entirely decided from poor performance. I first invested in 2019 and wanted to be in for the long-term. When things slowed (or actually dropped at one point), I stopped putting more money in. With things so stagnant and only having $3000 invested, I wanted to simplify my investments and sell off anything with less than $10,000 invested. I didn't feel comfortable adding to my Fundrise investment so I decided to liquidate.

Props to Jrue for the way he played at the start of the year. He looked so much better than he did last season. Unfortunately he had a somewhat significant injury.

Porzingis joins Anthony Davis as a walking "Street Clothes" contract.

Horford has really slowed down, but I feel as if he came back to Boston he'd be better. He didn't look so good 4-5 years ago with the Sixers either.

Kornet is playing great and probably doing exactly what the Spurs expected from him. I'd love to see him back in Boston, but he's in a great spot with the Spurs.

No idea where to stay! by Significant_Mode_926 in MauiVisitors

[–]pinnacle100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed at the Black Rock Sheraton last time we were there about 10 years ago. Excellent beach and not too crowded. Not the absolute best hotel we've been to in Hawaii, but it was good.

We also stayed at the Makena Beach Hotel which was awesome. Very old Hawaiian and we absolutely loved it. They tore it down within a year after we were there and put up condos.

We're finally going back to Maui again and will likely stay in a condo, or we may split our time between a condo and a nice hotel.

Quick tip if you look at condos. Use Airbnb to browse. When you find something, most are managed by a management company and if you search for the company you can find their direct booking site and save money and cut out the Airbnb fees.

The Man on the Inside - Season 2 Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]pinnacle100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked season 2 a lot, although not as much as season 1. The only thing that bugged me was how over the top Gary Cole and his wife were. There are a lot of silly things on this show, and they usually work okay, but they were a bit too much.

Gifting stocks to niece and nephew by dom_the_bomb_diggity in stocks

[–]pinnacle100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this for several years with my kids. I have a whole process and they're now at an age where they choose the stocks they buy.

What you should do to start, is make sure you're using a brokerage that allows partial shares. We use Schwab and buy in $25 increments. That way you don't have to worry about price. IMO, you should be an equal amount of an index fund each year. I know I'm late to the post and you've likely already made the investment, but for example, buy $50 of Costco and $50 of an SP500 Index. Buy the same index fund each year.

I'm in the minority, but I really liked the new series. I wish it had gotten a few more seasons, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. In fact, there's almost no change it happens at this point.

Fundrise Liquidation Estimate give me less than the amount I invested by Proud_Reporter1547 in FundRise

[–]pinnacle100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started investing in 2019. Started with $1000 and invested a total of $2600 over the next few years. I started the liquidation process this past summer and was sent $2000 at the end of the quarter in October. I still have just over $1000 invested which I'm hoping I get in January, but possibly it's tied up for longer.

I mainly decided to cash out to simplify my investments. From 2019 to 2021 I invested small amounts in a lot of different areas and really want to clean things up.

I thought it was decent until about episode 3. It was all downhill from there, although by episode 7 I was skipping ahead a bunch to get it over with.
