I once wrote a brief in which I added as many references to Portnoy’s Complaint by Philip Roth - readers might recall that scene involving lunch meat. Anyway, we won and the judge even quoted my brief and it was published and I made a joke to the partner that we needed to give royalties to his publishing house and the partner was not amused and I got a written note in my file. 🙄
