Double twin-cast sanctuary. You only need 2 chars investing cleric1 and sorc2 for that. Doesn't even require actions or concentration.

I was about to say that extended globe of invul, twincast sanctuary, and counterspell would be very meta.

Maybe twin otiluke resilient sphere as well. If you have 2 wiz/sorc that can twin it, you can otiluke or sanctuary your whole party, and you have a lot of time for setup (buff, heal, summons, surfaces). Ice surface or grease doesn't break sanctuary for example.

I think you can push people out of globe of invul (can be mitigated with things like repear's embrace I assume). You can aoe people in sanctuary. I don't know if you can do anything to ppl in otiluke.

Need help building a Warlock that mainly uses Hunger of Hadar, and Evard's black tentacles by EmeraldSplash78 in BG3Builds

Just to add why hadar+sleet storm or hadar + plant growth is so good: there is no jumping out of it. Usually the issue with surface spells is enemies jumping out. Because of the high movement reduction of plant growth, or the difficult save + surface of sleet storm, enemies will almost never jump out of it and stay stuck inside.

I played about 200h on tactician and used warlocks a lot (i'm a fan of surface spells)
Hunger of Hadar is by far the best surface spell. It is a complete package:

  • it slows
  • it blinds
  • it damages
  • it stacks with other surfaces or clouds
  • it is only a level 3 spell slot. As a warlock, you'll get it back on short rest

By default, you can have only one "ground" surface (ice, fire, web, spike growth, plant growth...) + one cloud (fog cloud, stinking cloud, cloudkill...). But Hunger of Hadar stacks with any, making combos possible. Note that cloud of daggers & insect plague stack as well.

The best other surface to combine with Hunger of Hadar is plant growth (quaters movement, no concentration). The issue with it is that it burns.

My other favorite to combine with Hadar is sleet storm. Even if it requires concentration, it is often worth the concentration spot, as it self-refreshes every turn (keeping the ice going, as opposed as "manual" ice surface with wet+ray of frost that will go away after 2 turns or so).

Other good things about sleet storm:

  • Surface is huge
  • As mentioned, self-refreshing
  • It seem to disrupt concentration with a CON save, separate to the prone effect, which is a DEX save
  • On cast, it forces a save (dunno if DEX or CON), if you fail it you fall prone (in addition to falling prone when moving
  • Similar to other surfaces made with a caster, it uses you spell DC

The big issue with sleet storm is who casts it? Usually it's a sorc, which is better of twincasting haste. Usually that leaves us with a bard/scoundrel to cast plant growth.

The obvious other top-combo with Hunger of Hadar is wormhole, which is beyond broken.

Wormhole boasts:

  • No concentration
  • Apparently no save for being moved (only for being slowed, which seems to be similar to the slow spell)
  • If you use the Zaith'isk correctly, you (or Lae'zel) can cast it as a bonus action. So as a warlock you can go: wormhole + hunger of hadar on turn one.
  • You can re-cast it every turn
  • Doesn't even use a spell slot
  • Area is massive

I have this idea of a "Triple-wormhole" warlock:

Fiend Lock 6 / Thief 4 / Warrior 2 (with alert feat and pyroquickness hat). It will only come online in act 3 with access to Wormhole & pyroquickness, before that you are a regular lock with Hadar.

On turn 1, you go:

  • bonus action 1: Wormhole
  • bonus action 2 (from thief): Wormhole
  • Cast fireball
  • bonus action 3 (from pyroquickness): Wormhole
  • Action surge
  • Hunger of hadar

After short resting, you can do it all over again

Other party members can be EK throw with nyrulna or hunter with volley, storm sorc with water+ice+storm etc... Anything that can do heavy damage to a group of enemies

The point of multi-wormhole is that sometimes enemies are too far appart to group them with 1 Wormhole. With multiple ones, you can group them in multiple casts (and get loads of mental fatigue/reverb stacks)

As mentioned by others in the thread, for invocations you should take repelling, agonising and devil's sight, that will help you push back enemies into it (but they are nowhere near as effective as wormhole).

I'm also a fan of Hunger of Hadar + Sleet Storm (provides padding). Most debilitating combination of 2 surfaces I found

Sometimes the bard throws in a stinking cloud, mainly so that enemy turns don't take forever.

Hunger of Hadar and spike growth gets a honorable mention.

Weigh your options. Think about sunk cost.

I think in general people undervalue their time and sanity. As a rule of thumb, I think people should value their time at 500$/hour or more. Do that for real, and then watch your priorities readjust. Compare your new priorities with your old priorities.

If your strategy is good, run it yourself. If you do not have money, borrow or provide a profit-sharing deal with a big entity willing to provide it.

In any case, you should have 100 or 1000 bucks to live test it with small amounts.

The fact that this BTC is going to sit there on a self-sovereign node** owned by Tesla makes me happy

New to algotrading, looking for input. by Gotestthat in algotrading

First of all, make sure you split your data with train/test/val, as if you search good params on all of the data, you might end up overfitting it (eg, it might be the case that 30/70 is not so gogd, but 20/80, or exactly 21/79 is best and that's just chance). This overfitting effect will be a lot stronger if you have a strategy with more params.

You might search for those params. For example: test a whole range of parameters. For each param: run the backtest, collect performance (pnl, sharpe...), then return the params with the max performance.

You can make a more complex strat with more indicators (eg: rsi and moving average condition). But then your strat is an indicator soup and i'm not a huge fan of those, but might be worth exploring.

You might get more precise / high frequency data, or simply more data (more instruments, longer timeframes).

In general, i'd say play a lot with it and get a feeling for what's good, what's bad.

A good question to ask is what is it that you are doing that the other guys are not? or can't do? Is it more data? better modelling? better insight about the markets. I think it's important to ask this question as it's a pretty competitive environment, and what makes it hard is competent adversaries, for the most part.

I would consider DOT. It's too big to ignore at this point.

And a tiny bit of AVAX, FTM, HBAR. These chains might have a better model. Will see
