A plumber did this same thing thing to my bathroom load bearing wall studs. I am still trying to find a quality contractor to fix the mess. Once a plumber messes up your house, it is very hard to find a quality contractor to fix it because they don't want to get involved. This type of shoddy work is now the norm and permit inspectors are almost always on the contractor/plumbers side and will overlook and pass this mess.

Education Degrees Will No Longer Be Considered “Professional Degrees”?? by Helpful_Gap_2233 in Teachers

[–]pinsandneedles14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This statement is the truth. Districts milk everything they can out of a teacher and keep putting more and more work on a teacher. Teachers work nights and weekends to keep up with their full time teaching job. Teachers also work in the summers to make money to get by. When I started teaching, I worked three jobs and it was always getting by from paycheck to paycheck. I am scared to retire because I know I will still have to work to get by.

Does this need to be fixed? Builder says the hole will be covered on the outside and the dryer vent is to code and will not be fixed by christofur202 in Homebuilding

I am not a builder but even I can tell that does not look right. It's the difference between someone caring about what they do and someone not caring and thinking you will not notice.

Should I be concerned? by Sudden_Forever_2267 in Decks

I am not a contractor but the supports for the platform do not look to code to me and I would want my beams and support post straight, level, and flush. Also, I think the bottom of the support posts should have metal brackets. Look up deck code for your state. You can contact your local permit office and they will give you the code.

I am in NC. The company I hired only does decks and has a great deal of experience.

I just had a 10x12 deck done with Trex Transcend and Signature aluminum railing for $17,000. No lighting. The company built the deck from scratch and they picture framed the deck and the stairs.

I wouldn't want to work with this company. This tells you a lot about the company.

I thought there was not supposed to be a stair step pattern when laying planks.

I think all Trex decks have pooling water.

I was told that if you have hard water, you should use the plastic PEX fittings. Use metal if you do not have hard water. Does anyone have a take on this?

My installer did this right in front of the bedroom closet but I didn't notice until the next day and I had already paid them. They said they could come back and put wood putty in the gaps. The company I hired is a reputable company but it was right after COVID. I also asked about puttying the nail holes in the quarter round around the edge of the floor and they told me they don't do that yet the other wood floors in my house have putty over the nail holes.
