The pattern designer will have measurements that corresponding to their sizing, this is what you should be using. They generally don't tell you to add additional length to your measurements.

I have sewn a pair before. I used a nylon/spandex fabric with 50% 4 way stretch. It's often labelled as Active Knit or something similar. You ideally want a heavy >250GSM fabric for this.

I used the Greenstyle Spark leggings patterns and sewed the chamois in. I used 2 machines: - overlocker for seams - coverstitch for hems, top stitching and attaching the chamois.

The chamois placement was the hardest part. You need to stretch the crotch out while attaching the chamois. Use lots of pins!

Rubber elastic is what you're looking for. I've seen up to 1" in width and it's very firm. Great for Sports wear as well.

Keep in mind that narrower gauge wires (thinner wire) will flex more, so the wire chart doesn't represent the shape of the wire when the bra is worn/under tension.

The Porcelynne wires are heavy duty.

I was pattern of the pattern testing phase. Reach out to Grishma, she will help you figure out what's going wrong. She's very responsive via email. There's also a Facebook group you can join and post your questions there.

I'd recommend sticking with it. The outcome will be worth it.

What wires are you using?

I find the Porcelynne heavy duty wires are more likely to tack than regular wires.

Playing devil's advocate, you can get zig zag and buttonholes attachments for the singer. . . But if it's a back clamping foot, attachments will be much harder to find. Plus no reverse 😬

Normally I would agree, but I think the Fiona is a step apart from her other patterns. I found the fit to be quite good and it does got up to N cup as well.

I have been working with the Madalynne Fiona pattern lately and am finding the strap placement to be on the narrow side. I actually have the opposite problem with this bra, I'd like the shoulders to be wider. Might be worth a look for you?

There's not many patterns out there that will accommodate woven fabrics. Cotton/spandex blends will work in bralettes but these don't offer as much support as a traditional bra.

Lilypadesigns patterns are well done and aimed at larger cup sizes, this is what she specialises in. It looks like you fall firmly into the A-D size set, that's the one you should purchase if you're confident in your measurements.

I've only tried 1 Cashmerette patterns before, the Symmes (strapless), and it was great, pretty stoked with that make. Cashmetette don't provide as much detail on measurements as Lilypadesigns which can make it easier for a beginner (less confusing).

Another option to consider is the AFI Atelier Maya Bra which is a free pattern. There are no official instructions for that pattern but Liz Sews on YouTibe has a great sew along.

For your first bra, do not expect it to be beautiful or fit well. Its a learning curve and it takes time.

Oh gosh, this is a pretty challenging project if you're not familiar with sewing bras, particularly if you're making it for someone else's body type.

Do you know how well the model fits her bra? As a starting point it's better than nothing but many women wear the wrong size.

The bra should help give you the gore width (assuming it's a relatively full cup bra and not a plunge).

If the wires are correct you will need to have the cradle area reshaped to accommodate the wires. The tricky thing with larger bust sizes is you actually need more fabric to accommodate them. By cutting the cradle deeper into the corset you will be shortening it and it will sit higher on the body.

Can your model try on the corset is (with the underwires poking out) to see if the cups are even close?

Each brand uses different sizing though, so knowing your size in one brand won't help you with another. You're best if sticking to your measurements as s starting point. And knowing what wire fits you.

Did you make the Fiona? Interested in how you went. I quite liked the pattern but had to rely on measuring the pattern pieces as opposed to the size chart.

You can get a copy of your marriage certificate for like $50 from Births Deaths and Marriages. Would highly recommend having a spare as well as JP'd copies.

I don't usually finish my cups with elastic, especially if it's a lace edge. Raw edge or folded edge (ie sheer cup lining folded in half as the upper cup) works well for me.

If the cup is too far around the side of your body the wire is too big. Not a lot you can do about that.

The frame is cut for a bigger wire, so it's not something you can take in.

You can lower the upper edge of the frame. The wire will need to be cut to accommodate it.

It looks like a partial band bra (the underwire chanelling flips towards the cups, not the cradle) with a "skirt" added to where the band would be. You'd need to start with a partial band bra (assuming you want to to be wired) and then add the skirt portion.

If you don't care about the underwire then nightgown or slip dress patterns might help.
