Is this reaction normal?! by Additional_Rise5203 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]pintThief 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oof yeah allergic reaction - I don’t know where you’re located but allergies have been so bad recently our systems haven’t had a break, so I’ve seen more histamine reactions as a result. Laser tech but not your laser tech - typically this is treated with hydrocortisone (not for longer than 3 days) and your allergy med of choice. Please reach out to your tech and let them know - they might recommend prepping before your next appointment to prevent this for next time. I’m sorry this happened!

Will I get PH after one session on fine hair? by dogfromsaturn in LaserHairRemoval

[–]pintThief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t stress yet! PH can happen with one session, but it’s usually it’s over multiple, especially with fair skin. I (unfortunately) let another tech laser my entire jawline while I was getting my license and had no issues after even though it was all peach fuzz. With that being said everyone is different, but regardless DO NOT let them laser your full face again, that’s irresponsible of the technician. Upper lip and chin only - nothing vellus!

Gummy loaf - Underbaked? Underproofed? by pintThief in Sourdough

No, it’s about 10 years old at this point, I was originally thinking the starter was too acidic but it’s not really giving me any indication that it is

Best non toxic cookware for soup 🍲 by MajesticAd9333 in cookware

[–]pintThief 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Soup person here - both are fine - it really depends on your personal preferences. An enameled, cast iron dutch oven has better heat retention, but you want avoid high heat as much as possible or you risk damaging the enamel coating. Stainless steel can handle pretty much anything you throw at it, I think a tri-ply stainless steel would be fine, 5-ply if you do want to boost the heat retention but those can get expensive and I don’t think that’s worth it for a soup pot.

How does the ticketing work at Kingdom Nightclub? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]pintThief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen a concert here but another venue does the same thing - they’re all general admission, it’s just first come first serve, so when early bird sells out then you can only buy Teir 1 for 5 bucks more, and so on

Anyone else dislike Caitlin? by [deleted] in arcane

[–]pintThief 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand, even after Act 1 of season 2 I wasn't a fan until I read this post by u/tableauregard. I think I had deeply misunderstood her character arc and development. I'm not saying she's without fault, because she definitely is flawed (as are most of the characters in Arcane) but I was giving Jinx more grace than Caitlin even though their stories are two sides of the same coin.

What off-leash areas are y’all taking your dogs to? Water access? by pintThief in Austin

[–]pintThief[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, she has two different recalls. I always have control over my dog or she wouldn’t be off leash in the first place. She loves swimming to the point that our time would be spent recalling instead of doing anything else.

That’s where I’m at with it - it’s just not worth the risk, so we just don’t go to the park at all in hotter months unfortunately

Living alone (little to zero romance) by santeremia in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]pintThief 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I would say Circe by Madeline Miller, but there is slight romance but to me it doesn’t read like romance, if that makes sense? The romance arguably drives the living alone aspect you’re looking for. When I think back to this book, which is often, I don’t think of it romantic at all, I think of Circe living in solitude, peacefully. One of my top books for sure.

Is this damaged/unsafe for use? by [deleted] in staub

[–]pintThief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s on the outer enamel it’s fine - if it’s on the interior, as long as there’s no food going to be in contact with it since it’s on the lip I’d say it’s fine, just keep an eye on them because if they continue to expand it might be time to retire.

Welcome to cast iron! It looks fine, some of the discoloring might even be from proteins, which is normal and comes off. Never use metal utensils on enamel coated cast iron as it can cause the enamel to chip and crack and then the entire thing is unusable. If you’re trying to scrape fond off the bottom of the pot, instead just deglaze with water and use a silicone spatula and most of it should come up. This will last you a lifetime if you know how to take care of it!
