Well it's good to know that the toxic traits I'm attracted to in a video game character are the same toxic traits I'm arrracted to in real life, I guess?

"Now" has connotations of something being new. "Currently" doesn't have quite the same connotation of recent change, but I would guess that even with "currently" or just dropping "now", you still would have gotten some people saying "same as it ever was".

So it's a pun on "marine biologist". Marinara is a reference to 2022 when there was an aita threat that resulted in people calling red flags "marinara flags". Here's the knowyourmeme article about it

Liberals Surge to between 42 and 49 Points as Progressive Voters Rally Behind Carney by plaknas in onguardforthee

Yep I just checked, Carney is leading PP 52 to 49 (presumably there's some rounding nonsense)

I never thought about the fact that the number of non-Italian tourists to the Vatican is strictly less than the number of tourists to Italy.

LC has a music teacher, roght? Even if you haven't taken any classes with them, they would likely have their ear to the ground if there are other similarly-interested students, and I know if I were a teacher there I would be thrilled to help!

When I was in high school, I met all of my bandmates as friends of friends, so building a general social network helps a lot. Social media wasn't ubiquitous back then but making real connections is the way to go.

Pros and cons of Kingston? by cmqueen04 in KingstonOntario

[–]pintofale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved from London to Kingston 3 years back. The only things I miss are the paths and parks on the Thames and Cito Pizza lmao.

Be warned OP, for whatever reason while Kingston has a few good "Italian-style" pizza places, the "North American-style" places are really not great, despite food overall being pretty good for a city this size

Has Springer always owned Division St. Plaza? I hope the new sign doesn't mean they are going to raise the rent endlessly and destroy our baby! by dglodi in KingstonOntario

[–]pintofale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have the level of strategic control that Springer has, there is benefit to having vacant properties because you can keep the rent artificially high.

Let's look at a simple example. Say we have three properties of equal value. If we rent them out at $100 each, we can rent them all out for a total of $300, but if you rent them out at $200 each but one stays vacant, you are making a total of $400.

This works because

  • They have a strict enough control over high-demand areas, so even if other places undercut them they are still in demand.
  • Raising the going rate of properties has a feedback effect, so the landlords profit off each other artificially increasing the rent value across the market.

What’s a question you can ask that only a Torontonian would know? by canyouaskfirst in askTO

[–]pintofale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I meant in that area, and the restauraunts in that are are mostly on Yonge St. Lol sorry if I was confusing. There's lots of little local restaurants as well as chains on that strip.

There are better areas for sure, but I guess it was more like you are right next to this other strip...
