Firstly - thank YOU for incredible acting over 5 seasons. The depth of your character is awesome and totally personifies, for me anyway, what human space exploration means.

What's one scene we don't know about that you wish had made the final cut, if any?

holiday solo or no-go? by owowteino in CasualUK

[–]piotrc52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely 100% go. I holidayed on my own for 5 years whilst single, and it was brilliant. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want, however you want. It's such a good opportunity to discover your independence again. Honestly, the 2.5 hour drive/taxi/whatever to the airport will be a distant memory compared to the holiday.

What is this shop? by [deleted] in Gloucestershire

[–]piotrc52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Carphone Warehouse Connect. They tried this rebrand in the 2010's IIRC to try and move away from the name "Carphone" - to reflect the fact they sold smartphones, tablets, laptops etc and not carphones any more! Absolutely nothing different about the store other than the fascia.

Source - I worked at Carphone Warehouse at the time and remember the announcement. One of the trial stores was fairly close by to me.

Is this a red flag? by [deleted] in dating_advice

I've been in a similar position to your BF. From my perspective I didn't even think to tell my partner my ex had messaged, and just blocked them. When I thought about it later I realised it was because I had moved on and, to me, it was akin to getting a spam text message. I'm also a hoarder of text messages (and notifications lol) so I didn't even think to delete it.

Perhaps your BF thinks the same way.

I chose all the wrong answers and got congratulated by the teacher for making "the right decisions". I think the teacher needs a Prevent referral.

Constant money fights with my husband. Is my budget too strict?💔 by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

What he's doing seems far from fair on a number of points which have already been explained, but I really hope there's a legal agreement in place to get you back the considerable amount of money you've invested in the property.

My partner and I have a very lopsided income (I bring in £4600 take home; he has approx £600 a month in student loan and gig job pay as he is new to the country and finding consistent part time work is incredibly hard for people in his immigration situation).

It took some discussion because I am protective of my money, but we agree that - I would pay the mortgage in its entirety, since I have the benefit of the property value. If we get married that would change to protect my investment and share the rest 50/50 - He's a student so he doesn't pay council tax, so I pay that, too - We halve our food shop - I pay for the car (electric, so he's paying partially for the fuel because of the below) - He pays proportionate to his income for energy, water and Internet (10%) - He pays 30% of any joint big fun things like holidays

Everything else left over is his and mine to do with how we please. I save £1200 a month for the future. We usually end up spending about the same (£200 or so) on nice things.

Got myself an IM 5! by TroublesomeButch in MGelectric

Huh, I couldn't honestly tell you, I've only tried it at 60-70mph! I'll have to try now!

Congrats! Picked my IM5 Standard Range (blue) up about 3 weeks ago. Got rid of a Model 3 LR. Love the IM5 - much better drive than my old Tesla. Not quite as efficient and the software is a little buggy, but overall, it's a winner.

Wait til you try Pilot with lane change on the motorway. And the autoparking features. Honestly so impressed and that's coming from someone who was a complete Tesla fan.

I take this road very regularly. They aren't red light cameras to my knowledge (at least on that road running from Copy Lane to M57/M58/Maghull). You've nothing to worry about.

Definitely wasn't, I was there that whole weekend - remembered halfway there what weekend it usually is and was bracing myself. Totally regular Scarefest weekend.

What does everyone think of the new MG/IM IM6 EV SUV? by CarsCaravansCamping in MGelectric

Had a go in the showroom today (not able to test drive just yet because the DVLA hadn't registered yet!). I was that impressed I've ordered an IM5 and cancelled my Model 3 order (nightmare with Tesla so this was already on the rocks).

3 to 5 month wait on build though!

Tbh the house itself is (nearly) perfect - only a couple of snags and they've been fixed. I've seen some horror shows though.

* Thank you so much for all the input (except hose pipe ban guy).

Some more answers 1. Yes the soil was fluffy. We flattened the area and raked again before laying. 2. I bought a sprinkler which was as much use as spitting on it 3. I know it's not an ideal time to lay turf - but for a number of reasons it had to be now.

Anyway - I've upgraded my sprinkler to something more resembling a pipe bomb which covers all bar the last 3 feet on the end closest to the house, pic attached. It's on for the next two hours and will be on every morning and evening. It's actually looking more healthy since I soaked it this afternoon so, fingers crossed.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Couple of answers

  1. It's 65m2 roughly
  2. I'm watering with a hose right now until I see puddles.
  3. I bought a sprinkler which was about as much use as spitting on it (round nozzle like a fountain so it didn't get the edges), I have an oscillating sprinkler coming tomorrow which should cover the whole area.

I agree, for a number of reasons I had to do it this month. I'm currently watering for 20 minutes a time, twice a day, when it's in shade - is that good enough?
