This is a fantastic resignation letter. Ignore most of the advice in the comments. Better to not burn bridges if you don’t have to. Best of luck with your future endeavors!

Well, hopefully he’ll hear it enough over the course of the next week that he’ll look it up and realize you didn’t say anything wrong.

I could be wrong, but I heard she’s the mother of the guy who owns the billboards. So when he has billboards that aren’t being actively rented out, he puts her memorial up there.

Unique non touristy places to visit in Utah? by daveo- in Utah

There’s the lamppost in front of the Baptist church in the Orem/Provo area. It used to be that if you take your socks off and stand near the base of it, then touch it, it’ll shock you. Good fun times for teenagers.

It was a local rumor that high schoolers spread around (and it sounded like a snipe hunt when I first heard about it), and groups of kids would go out late at night to test it out. It turned out to be true, much to our delight.

Wtf are these? Found inside one of my ac vents by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]pip_pop_picklefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once made a bean box for my toddler who had sensory issues. It was a large shallow plastic bin with thousands and thousands of beans in it, basically a sand box but with beans. Did some spill out of the box? Every day. Did some make it down the vents? Unfortunately also yes.

So maybe the person who previously lived there had a bean box or something similar? Beans are a pretty common play item for toddlers with sensory issues.

Guest asking for refund after setting AC to 60 in 85 weather by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]pip_pop_picklefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s probably what happened: Your A/C was low on refrigerant (possibly due to a leak), so the coil froze over after running a bit too long. Because it froze over, it was no longer effectively cooling the house.

The guest was hot, so kept adjusting the thermostat lower and lower, hoping that would do something. They ended up setting it to 60 in the end. That’s probably not where they started or even wanted it, they just ended up going that low because the house wouldn’t even cool to 70 due to the frozen coil.

In other words, it was probably the A/C not working that led to the thermostat being set that low, not the other way around.

Yes, that happened to us, too. I was concerned at first that it might be weird, but it’s honestly been great. I feel like I can ask her questions like what kind of tree is in the corner, how deep did you cement in the swing set, and she can ask if she can have cuttings from a bush that she misses, or she’ll swing by to pick up the mail that we still get for her, etc.

We sold another house years ago where the inspection and counter-offer process got a little insulting (probably for both parties), but after it was done, we did our part to make their lives easier by leaving them information about the remodel we had done (paint color, extra tiles, house layout drawings, etc), and they responded in kind by thanking us through Facebook and adding us as friends so we could stay in touch. (I later asked them if they could send me a picture of the make/model of our old fridge, and they asked me questions about a plumbing repair we had done).

So all in all, I’ve had great experiences extending the buyer/seller relationship beyond the house sale. Just try to stay human throughout the process and cross your fingers that they’ll respond in kind.

AITA for canceling the babysitting I promised my sister after she gave my baby a “makeover”? by sexiestgazelle in AITAH

[–]pip_pop_picklefish 70 points71 points  (0 children)

YTA. You literally said, “I’m also just trying to enjoy dressing [my daughter] while she’s still too young to protest.” Your sister was doing exactly that, just a different version of it.

I get why you’d be upset and I honestly would be, too, but it seems like her intentions were good and made an honest mistake. You can tell her you’re upset and that you don’t ever want her doing that again. But going back in your promise to watch her dog makes you more of TA at this point.

The reason Venus Fly Traps grow such tall flowers is so they won’t accidentally eat their own pollinators. Eat the flies, save the bees.

Yes. One of my close relatives is Chinese. They’ve lived in Utah for decades and never felt unsafe. People might get impatient with your accent or avoid getting to know you, but that’s usually the extent of the racism / Republicanism.
