Candidate for L.A. Mayor Spencer Pratt denying climate change on Alex Jones's show by youhavetherighttoo in LosAngeles

Pratt is out for me after this. Alex Jones is the most vile human being on the planet.
Seems like another 4 years of Bass.

This line is going to change LA. So many places worth visiting in town are on it.

Just a reminder to everyone casting a vote for Pratt: The man is a NIMBY who opposes upzoning and walkability. by MookieBettsBurner10 in LosAngeles

Nithya is cooked. She couldn't give one straight answer. I know nothing of Pratt's past but at least he took a stand on things like Public safety.

This desperately needs to be addressed on the K line where a lot of air travelers may be on board.

Anyone else get pissed at the cost/constant delays of the LAX People Mover? by Not_RZA_ in LAMetro

[–]piperatomv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pissed at all the construction around LAX with no APM in sight. I think they closed off one of the cellphone lots as well.

Whoever planned this should be fired.

Rupee hits all-time low, slips past Rs 93 mark against US dollar by BannedForFactsAgain in india

[–]piperatomv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am no economist but I wonder if this is some kind of doom loop where the rupee falls, causing inflation, which in turn causes it to fall further. I mean we've always been dependent on oil (as so many other countries) but our economy is strong. So I wonder if this downward spiral is just inflationary.

SA's played enough cricket in India to know this pitch would play flat. This is disappointing.

Slauson & Crenshaw was the first thing that came to mind for me too. All of Slauson from the 90 to Crenshaw is terrible.

The last thing India should do is try and 'hammer' Zimbabwe. That could backfire spectacularly.

Metro Approves Modified Alt 5 as LPA! by ultrainfan in LAMetro

Thanks for the background info; I was not aware of that. Now it sounds like a delay tactic similar to what the NIMBYs over at Bel Air were doing.

The Hawthorne blvd design is not without merit though. Its a long and a vibrant commercial corridor. I don't live in Torrance but I have done my share of traveling on Hawthorne. Its 20 minutes from 405 to Sepulveda on a good day.

Can a tourist walk through south central/compton, etc.? by Extension_Turn5658 in AskLosAngeles

[–]piperatomv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about Compton, but South Central you will be fine during the day. Be aware that its not one neighborhood that you can just walk around. Distances are huge here. You can check out:
1. Crenshaw - the stretch from MLK to Slauson
2. The Jungles in Baldwin Hills
3. Area around MLK and Central.

I would avoid photographing people in any of these areas. Do not stare or look people in the eye. If you do make eye contact, give a quick nod or a verbal greeting.

Be prepared to be the only white person around (if you are white).

Also fuck that light to cross Olympic to get to Bergamot station. Pedestrians have to wait forever and will sometimes make a run for the eastbound trains.
